Hey guys,
Just got in some new axles and a diff from GBR. RD76 30 spline ARB, and the MaxiDrive 30 Spline rear axles. I did some measuring with the calipers if anyone is interested:
Diameter of Diff end splines:
OEM 1.235 (inches)
Ashcroft 24 spline 1.235
MaxiDrive 30 spline 1.305
Minimum Diameter on axle shaft:
OEM 1.068
Ashcroft 1.125
MaxiDrive 30's 1.225
Diameter of oil seal surface:
OEM 1.257
Ashcroft 1.26
MaxiDrive 1.26
I looked closely at the axles and notice that the Maxi's maintain a more constant diameter throughout (less necking up and down like the Ashcrofts and OEMs).
The 30 spline axles will NOT fit in a stock RD56 housing with 30 spline side gears. They are too big to fit inside the outer bearing mount, although this could be machined out.
I will include a bunch of picts when full service is restored.
