: Gas Tank Placement ???
zukjunkie13 07-14-2008, 07:05 PM Ok so this winter im stretchin the rear of my zuk and 4 linkin it with coils. and i dont know whereto put the gas tank. i would like to keep it in the stock location because i have a stero system attached to the tail gate of my zuk that takes up all the space behind the back seat, and a good sized amp that takes up all the space under the back seat.
so where has everyone put there gas tanks? pics would be nice
Strange 07-14-2008, 07:28 PM i wheel my zuk, not run around town bumpin my system...
ditch the system, throw the tank in the bed

cajunsuzukispider 07-15-2008, 10:46 AM my tank is below the floor level, right where the rear floor begins. I have a stretched wheelbase front and rear, and the rear axle is behind the tank. I took a large piece of 16 gauge sheet metal and custom bent a holder for the fuel cell. it even has a sump protector. my fuel cell has a 2" deep sump for drag racing, but I have that part facing forward. also, I put in and custom made a swivel, so that no matter which direction I'm leaning towards, it swivels around to pick up fuel from the bottom. all my fuel cell safety foam is crammed in and pinned in place with stainless steel 4" long spikes with a large washer in the middle of the spike so it doesn't go too deep into one side. it stays the same length in both pieces it pins together. I got pics, but don't know how to get them up here, tried once......:smokin:
zukjunkie13 07-15-2008, 01:22 PM thanks for the pics and info. Cajunsuzukispider i would really like to see some pics, can you email pics?
and for all you guys that think my rig is a bumpin mall crawler, you are all wrong. i actually wheel my zuk hard. its my DD but i beat the hell out of it. I just like to have some tunes while im wheelin. I used my zuk to compete in for 3 years untill we built our buggy.

cajunsuzukispider 07-15-2008, 10:38 PM yeah, I guess so. I could pull the fuel cell out maybe and show the 'cradle' it sits in. it's got a few gallons in it, but I think me and my brother can get it. I'll try to do it tomorrow.
I made the swivel part out of 2 air line swivels. I had to use both female sides, and modify the central part as well. I've got that plumbed about 2" high up the side of the fuel cell so that the tube can go out to the middle of cell and drops down a bit through the swivel, which has another pipe coming out to almost the edle of the cell.
so when I go up or down hill, I can run the motor with only about a quart of gas in the tank. but sidehilling, I'd need a couple gallons maybe, the fuel cell is wider and the swivel pipe doesn't reach all the way. besides, that's where the foam sits that all the other foam is tied into. not gonna reach into the fuel cell to take it apart and show everything, but I'll do what I can and email it tomorrow.
