I have 1.6 8v trans 1.6 8v bellhousing to 2.0 engine using Rock Rat machined flywheel.
1.3 samurai fits but the indexing lip does not fit snug
2.0 does not fit
1.6 8v ???? I guess is the right one but hate to drop coin on another starter that won't fit.
What will work and where is a good source to but one?
thanks

try fitting a cheapie broken one from the junkyard first. you can always have it rebuilt at an automotive electric shop and have a better starter than what autozone would sell you........

Not sure on which one fits the best on that set-up, but if you need to buy a new one, go with one from a 1.6 16V with auto tranny. Is like a gear reduction one I swear. Much more power than any I have run before. I run this one and it is awsome compared to the stock zuk one. It will fit in place of the 1.3. I have it on a 1.6 block now.

with a 2.0 DOHC engine you will need a gear reduction or a 2.0L starter. It takes a lot to turn the engine over, a lot more than a 1.6 or a 1.3 SOHC engine. The diesel swaps use the starters out of the 2.0L sidekicks. If you can't fit one, you need to get an adapter plate so that you can, or find out from the person that sold you the kit what you need to bolt up.

You can use either a 1.6 8 valve or a 1.6 16 valve or a 2.0 liter starter, but the ONLY 2.0 starter that will work is the one that DOES NOT have threaded mounting holes. Read this:
