I just picked up a Cut40 cheapo plasma for 200 bucks. And my question is the power cord to it has no plug. Its a 220, so im goin to get a welder plug for it the same way i wired up my outlet/extension cord for my miller 180 welder i bought recently. I'm no electrician either so bare with me.
Anyway question is: What wire is what? There is a green, a blue ,and a brown on the short power cord for the plasma... And this thing has a "post" on the back that says it needs to be grounded to something too??

green should be ground, the others should be your "hots"
use the same plug as your extension cord
I have not grounded the case of my plasma as I assume its connected to the ground wire. (I would hope?)

The green is ground. Just jam the three wires into the holes in your receptacle. It'll do the same thing as a plug.

okay thanks. Green ground, and the blue and brown are hots. And im assuming it doesnt matter which terminals on a plug the blue and brown go??

Im not gonna just ram the wires in the receptacle... Although you are right about it doin the same job as a plug...

It was a joke. Put a 6-50 nema plug on it. All my 220 welding equipment is on 6-50 nema plugs. Just be sure your wire feeding that 50 amp receptacle is heavy enough to carry 50 amps.
