: are all these interchangeable? redneckchevyman 07-14-2008, 07:32 PM For a stock late 70s chev half ton, if i decide to install th400, np205, 14bolt front and rear, will these all bolt right up in place of the stock parts or will I need to do some fab work or purchase anything else. Grumpy_old_fart 07-14-2008, 07:48 PM oy. no GM half ton 4x4 ever had a th400 as a stock transmission with an NP205 behind it. front driveshafts will be within a foot, but probably wont fit 100% if you use the one ton stuff, as they may be a tad short in the front, and just wrong in the back. everything else will bolt up. silver98Z71 07-14-2008, 08:08 PM everything else will bolt up. And I think some of the 3/4ton trucks had both of the shocks mounted towards the rear. But that is trivial. redneckchevyman 07-21-2008, 05:37 PM Doesnt sound too difficult to do. Im just tired of frying trannys, prolly because im running 3.73gears with 37s haha. I was told to just rebuild, get a cooler and run 4.11 gears and I wont have to worry bout another tranny for a while. One last thing, I know the 205t case was build better mainly because its gear driven and not chain, correct?
