Buddy of mine wants to get an XJ. That's the first gen. Cherokee, right ? He already got a set of 33x9.5 BFG muddies laying around and wants to throw them on the Jeep. Possible ? How much lift would be required to clear them on stock wheels. No hardcore offroading for him with this one, just a hobby vehicle and tow truck for his trail rig. I don't have any clue about Cherokee's other than one busted his axle shaft while trying to pull me out of a pit :emb4:

4-5 inches of lift should be fine. I ran about 6 inches of lift with 34x10.5s...

What transmission and gears? If its a 5sp on the 4.0L its probibly got the 3.07s gears, NO FUN with 33s and towing!! WIth the auto it will be ok, but diff gears would be optimal for towing and runnign 33s. The width is no problem.
