I have a spare NP231 that came out of a Chev Blazer and a friend of mine blew his transfer case in his 1998 TJ. Is there a difference between the two? Spline count? Would this one would in his Jeep??

Spline count is different for sure, 27 spline vs. 21 or 23. Dunno about the mounting.

Isn't the drop on the wrong side?

the s-10s and blazers all used a driver side 231 with IFS

nice swap is a 700R4 and 231 out of an S-10 into an auto XJ with a 2.8 V6
