In the past two years, the largest 4x4 website in the world, Pirate4x4.com has become a critical element in the fight for our motorized access to our trails.

In those two years, much has been done by Pirate4x4.com members on this board and in these forums. Thier hard work has made Pirate4x4.com "land-use central" in the fight for our access. It has also become THE place to go for up-to-date information on potential closures and land-use problems. This website has become "communication central" in these battles.

Here is just a small, incomplete list of just some of the things that members of Pirate4x4.com have done thru the use of the Pirate4x4.com Land-use forums:

1. Letter Campaigns have been organized
2. Public rallies have been organized
3. Virtual online rallies involving thousands of people have been organized.
4. "Friends of" groups have been organized
5. Work parties in various places have been organized
6. Flyer campaigns have been organized
7. We have packed public meetings with OHV and other forest users.
8. Task Forces such as the "Tellico Task Force" have been organized.
9. Ride-alongs with land-use managers have been organized.
10. Funds have been generated for our organiztions such as BRC, Cal4 and the like.

The members of Pirate4x4.com that are active in land-use issues have done an awesome job and are fighting VERY hard for our trails.

On behalf of Pirate4x4.com, I would like to thank you for your countless hours of hard work, work that often goes unnoticed by the general 4x4 public. All of you need to be thanked and congratulated for your efforts. You are true "Un-sung" Heros

Now, Pirate4x4.com is taking the fight one step further with the newest addition and weapon in our arsenal:

The Pirate4x4.com On-line Land-use Letter Generator

In cooperation with The Blue Ribbon Coalition, Pirate4x4.com now has the ability to make it easier for the OHV public to respond in writing to public comment periods for EIS's, to legislators, and the like.

Currenty there is only one letter up on the generator page, once a few more letters are added, a Press Release will be sent out to inform the entire OHV community.

If you have an idea for the letter generator, or know of an issue dealing with land-use that needs public comments, please contact me at:

Kurt@kurtuleas.com

SWEET!!!!! I'll have some Montana land-use/travel planning letters this fall. Do we just need to write suggested paragraphs to get them uploaded in the generator for people to pick and choose from?

Just e-mail me a summary of the issue and the e-mail addresses of the people who the comment or letters need to go to. You do not even really need to give me a sample letter, just main points that people should add into thier comments.

We did not put in "Click-boxes" where you could just click and add text automatically becuase then the letters would be seen a "form letters"

Kurt,

Thanks once again for getting this letter generator set up and I agree the results to date should be better.:(

One possible issue that I encountered may need to be addressed. After completing the letter, I clicked the "preview/send" item which should have displayed the letter. The page then turned white without any text. Check it out when you get a chance. Maybe it is just a glitch, or maybe I screwed it up.:p

I will run it by the IT guy. He is back east somewhere so it will have to wait until tomorrow.

I know it WAS working becuase I have gotten 3 e-mails in response to my letter.

Public pressure is a great tool.

Remember the quote

“If you don’t vote today, you can’t complain tomorrow”

Dear Robin Sutherland,

It is important to me and my family to be able to responsibly use the
Greenhorn Creek OHV area.

With high costs of everything these days it is necessary to stay closer
to home and yet maintain the ability to get out and recreate with the
family.

The public cannot and must not be excluded from the decision making
processes, as it is they that adopt, and maintain the area. They are
the ones with the stake in the welfare, you must ensure their
involvement in the process. NO SECRET MEETINGS.

Thank you for allowing me to bring this urgent and controversial matter
to your attention. A reply providing a clear understanding of your
position on public access to public lands for OHV use would be greatly
appreciated.

Thank you for listening, and heeding these needs.

Sincerely,

Ken Knull
