im buying stuff for my solid axle swap as i get the money. but in the meantime i have began working on putting the front spring hangers on and such. i want to go ahead and take out the ifs diff and cv shafts. just go ahead and get this out of the way. but i still have to drive the truck sometimes. a few ppl told me that if i took out the diff and cv shafts,...going down the road the tires would cave in cause they had no support. but i dont see how. i had a friend drive his without one shaft for over a year..............so,,would it be safe to take out the diff and axle shafts and still drive it????

NO WAY, Don't EVEN TRY IT!!!

Your freind is lucky he did not lose a tire!
See, it will not "Cave in" but without the shaft bloted to the tire your tire might pass you on the freeway!

I had a buddy that works at autozone that did this to his truck, and some of his tires IMIEDIATELY FELL OFF!

be good!

The outer CV actualy holds the wheel bearing together, it is pressed on but could easily seperate.
In my IFS days I used to take the outer half of an old outer CV joint in my parts box. If I blew a CV I'd bolt this in place. It got me home safe twice.

HAHAHA
You gotta be kidding me!!
I thought this was a joke!

like "How do I do a shakle reversal on my 99 TJ"???

Anyway guy, I guess it depends now on how quick you think you can sell your diff and stuff, Sounds like alot of work though, I would just wait and do it all at once!

BTW You can sell you IFS tierods and shafts ALL DAY LONG here on EJS. Lots of poser rigs out here then!
