My buddy can only go like 150 miles on his stock tank and we're thinkin of building something to add some capacity. I was thinkin of just putting in a second tank with an electric in tank pump and runnin a hose over to the main tank. when the main starts gettin low he just hits a switch and refils as he drives. my question is where would the fill line to the old tank go? tie into the return line maybe? i think that would be too slow tho and maybe mess up how it runs by sending pressure back the wrong way. weld in a piece of tube off the side of the filler neck? wondering about the safety of welding on a gas tank there. Any ideas or suggestions?

I run a third tank in the bed of my silverado and have it plumbed in to the vent hose on the tank filler neck. I use an electric fuel tank switching valve from NAPA that has three hoses (1 is plugged)and use a clear vw fuel filter before the valve. I use the tank that I have the gravity feed system on first, then swith to the other stock tank and activate the NAPA fuel valve, thereby filling the first tank by gravity and running off of the second tank. It works good and gives me an extra 30 gallons of fuel capacity.
If you need a part # for the valve e-mail me or post so here and I will get it for you.

I did something similiar in my old Jeep. I had 2 tanks and used one
of those valves mounted on the frame and the electrical switch to
control it on the dash. When one tank got low I just switched to
the other. Had a total of 27 gals. in a '70CJ5. Gave me a 400 mile range.
