OK.
The goal here is to build a CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP, Trail worthy JEEP!!
I have picked up the necessary body panels to replace the scrap that was on my rig. I got a new bed, complete with some light body damage, no rust, for $50. I got two new front fenders to replace the junk that was on my rig. I have a donor 1990 XJ for any and all other parts that are needed.
I know that you guys here preach 60's 60's 60's 60's but frankly 60's are probably out of my price range.
I want to rebuild this whole thing into a worth RIG with 33's or 35's for less than $4000 if possible.
What I need is drive line advice, suggestions from those of you who have done some fiddle quacking with other parts from other vehicles to build rigs that work.
Here is what I have budgeted
NEW SHEET METAL............................................. $300
NEW AXLES...(I NEED SOME HELP WITH THIS).. $1000
LIFT PARTS......(UCA LCA COILS & TRAC BAR).....$750
DONOR 4.0 HO from salvage yard......................$500
TRANNY AND T CASE.....(what can I use?)..........$1000
GEARS, LOCKERS, LABOR (for welding etc).........$500
I am doing a frame up with this thing so making some mods to fit drive line components in possible.
What about EXPLORER 8.8 how does it compair to D44 and D60. I think that 8.8 is right in the middle of the two?? A front 44 would be nice but donor rigs are hard to come by for axles in my price range. The kind of wheeling that I do the D30 with 297's and a small luchbox locker would work great. I have never had a bit of trouble with my 95 XJ 30 and the 30 in my MJ has been a good axle.
I need some advice help on above topics.
