Wow!! I wouldn't have trusted that thing in the first place.

Always scares me when I'm under the rig, no matter how many things I put under there to support it.:D

I have a bunch of 6x6 and 4x4 ends, about 2 feet long. I use them to crib up the Jeep after I jack it up. Nice and stable.

The low-tech option of stacking cinder blocks underneath my frame or axle has always worked for me whenever I'm going to have something up in the air for an extended period of time.

I'm hoping that's in addition to jackstands. Those things have been known to crumble.

EEK! Those are the same jack stands I have. I really don't trust them that much as I always put some wood under the rig too. They are my dad's he has had them for years...

Yeah...

When I lived at home my Scout fell on me in my mom's driveway.

Luckily for me I was swallowed by the fender well and nothing was under the disc rotor or spring or frame.

You are a lucky man!

That sucks! That's exactly why you don't work under the rig when nobody's home to help. Imagine if you got trapped and it didn't kill you. It would be a long wait for someone to come home. I actually showed my boy how to operate the jack just in case something like that were to happen he could get me out.

A older guy I knew just died a couple of weeks ago from this same thing. His jack slipped and his car fell on him. Wife was in town came home and found her husband dead, they figure he pretty much bled to death took a little while.
Same thing happened to me I jacked up the body on my zuk to attach a shackle and had my legs sittin under it and I was prying on a bolt and the friggin Handy man turned side ways and fell out and the rig crashed down on the tires luckily I only hit my head on the jack.
We as a whole need to start being a little safer bout this stuff.

Good to hear you're okay.

Another aspect to this should be trail repair safety since we don't have jack stands on the trail. I always put the tire I take off under the rig. (some clearance) But High lifts are not very stable so think of that before heading out to the trail.

I have my CJ up on 6 jackstands, AND have a nice big floor jack under there, and it still isnt safe enough for me.
I'm under there constantly thinking what part of me will be crushed when she drops.

Glad you're ok.

  Have you bought a lottery ticket?

In addition to putting my tire or whatever under my bronco, I always try to push the truck off the jackstands before I get under it. I'm also always aware of where my head an vital organs are.....if something does happen I'd rather loose a foot or arm verses my head! :nuke:

And please people, don't use cinder blocks!

Heh heh I just tore apart a scoutII to send off to the junker, and after I pulled the axles, it was on cinder blocks, and where I could I threw tires/wheels under it.
Man was that sketchy...all my jackstands were being used by my CJ...I worked very carefully, and thankfully they are beefy blocks.

Don't try this at home kids.
I was waiting for that big pig to crush me every time I was under there...cinder blocks suck.
