Start saving your money, if you plan to wheel the tough rock trails. The 10 bolt is going to fail. In the meantime, run it and have fun.:D

I'm planning a couple of trips to the Safford area in the next few months.
I'll let you know closer to the time.
To start with...it will mostly be tooling around the dirt roads checking out the lay of the land.
You got anything good local?

ya ther is some pretty cool things to check out like old mines you can drive into with a mild built rig ther is also the two rivers here,(gila, frisco)that requires a lot of crossing. plus we got eagle creek upper and lower that i hear is cool but have not been yet due to no one to go with! this is a mining town that is owned by the mine and everyone works shift work so its hard to wheel with a group.... but hell ya man let me know when you get here and we will set somthing up were only 45min from safford:D:D:D:D

Hey there are a couple of nice two track type trails that run in the threeway area i am working on the bridge there. There is martinez ranch rd (dix mesa rd) (i think it also goes by FR 515 or 215, i don't remember) that runs down to the San Francisco river off from 78, or you can take skyline view rd and that runs into the ranch too. That rd also has some steep 25% grade stuff, not to bad.
Its fun to run the loop, takes about 5 hrs or so. You can take the San Francisco rd out of Morenci toward Martinez ranch, thats quite a trip 7 hrs or more for the loop, but is more challenging, it runs through the river back and forth. Even more now that the river is up alot more.

Theres always something going on in Tucson and Sierra Vista but its probably not worth the drive. Your closer to better trails! Safford has a local board too but I don't remember the name.

Wow, there's forums on here other than chit-chat?
First and foremost, don't go wheeling alone with Jopes. :flipoff2: There's a few of us around the Gila Valley. Not a whole lot of rocks around, only a few that I know of close by.
Have I done the Frisco with you? What color is the blazer? The weather is getting nice, I need to head up there again.
PM me, I might be able to point you toward the light... or at least a dull glow. :D

Hmmmmm... sounds like you need a better spotter. :)
So is the rig all back together?
Rufty - Safford isn't known for it's rocks. There's a ton of BLM land around, which is open to drive, but it's pretty flat. The dunes are fun, but not necessarily in a big 4x4. Only rocky stuff around really are things near the mountain, which starts bordering into the Forest Service property. I've explored for years though, and still haven't done most of the roads around.

A 10 bolt and a 44 are pretty much the same strength in a stock form. :flipoff2:
It's not about the size - it's how you use it. :D
