Im going to replace the tires on the dodge and step down from 40's to 38's....

What is my best route?

Tsl Radial
Tsl SX
STS's
Tsl's
Ground Hawgs

I tow the zuk with this now and it is my daily driver.....Doesnt see too much off road at all, and the boggers suck on the street (as everyone knows)...

Ground Hawgs..... They do not wear nearly as fast as the other tires. This is on full size trucks too :)

PJs are E-rated. they are designed for high load. they also apparently have a pretty strong sidewall for a radial.

How much better do the TSL radials ride VS the regulars?

Is it worth a $50 difference per tire?

Honesly, I'd say 37" MT/Rs.

And yes, the better ride is worth that $50 difference. TSL Radials ride (and wear) better than TSLs do. At least in the 36" variety.

I'd stay away from Hawgs. If you've ever run a gateway tire you'll know what to expect. They'll wear the best, but ride the worst. Any of the gateway tires (buckshot, gumbo, hawg, etc.) are older than dirt, and they're loud enough to prove it. They make a bogger seem quiet.

I'd just go with TSL Radials...but does your tow right really need 38s?

37's will be too small!

Well, then they just need to hurry up with the 39x12.50 MT/Rs then, don't they?

Out of those options, then, I'd suggest a TSL radial. It's the best of what's left.

maybe also toss a couple more tires under that trailer!!

honestly if it were me I would go 37's and take a couple inches off that fawker if ya put it in that deep its gonna kill her!!

- if its a DD you'll thank your self

I had radial swampers on my IH and the ride was pretty damn good...for Interco. For a dd go as sissy as you can and enjoy the music. PJs do look like a good option, or 37 mtrs...smaller hoops would give ya more towing poop too.

The best street tire would be a Michelin LTX M/S but they don't come in a 38.

Don't mean to be a wuss, but how about some BFG AT KOs? They are incredible in the snow, pretty quiet and wear great.

Do you work at SMUD? I've seen a truck with boggers there like yours. All I can say is eeek, boggers on a DD!

What about SSR's? I loved mine on the road. They were quiet, and rode really well.

my brother runs 38 inch ground hawgs and they ride excellent, and on an 85 chevy with all spring 8 inch lift...you're feeling everything, you won't feel 1/2 that on a new dodge. my dad also had a set of 40's and they didn't even ride too bad, as long as you balance them. plus both sets of tires have worn like IRON. my brother has atleast 40k on his and they are about 1/2 tread. just my .02

a friend of mine ran 38.5 14.50 sxs on his 99 crew cab power stroke and claimed to get 25k miles out of them. I rode in it and with the well inslated cab and the weight of the truck the tires didnt seem too bad campared to toy on them.

rudezuk,,,,you going through now what i will be deciding on later. i love my40 boggs,,,but hate the ride ,flat spots they get from sitting, and so on. i have had just about everykind of offroad tire. i have some radial tsls on my ranger now and like them alot. im either going with a SX or the radial tsl when my boggs wear out. big choice,,,but if i were you,,,,,id get the radial tsl. sweet tire, good ride,,lasts long time

I just got some 37" MT/R's for street tires on my Cruiser.

They are too damn small.

I wish I had ponied up the $$ and gotten the PJ's!

If you don't get PJ's then the 38 x 15 Swamper Radials are your best choice.

i would get the PJ's they are as big as your 39" Boggers.

denman also made a tire they called the quiet giant. i had a set of 40's a long time ago and they were good street tires, kind of an all season type tire, i think they have them all the way to 44 even, but seriously, what the hell do you need all that lift and tire on the DD/tow rig, afraid your not cool enuff with just one agrressive rig?
oh yeah, swamper radial for your Q, but there are other big street meats out there. what about the MTX? it looks like a better street choice and i think i saw them in 38"

PJ's, working at an offroad shop I have balance many offroad tires and have them come back to complain, or say they ride nice. PJ's balance nicely, and if lined up with the soft spot they dont have much of a hop at all. I have done many sets of the 38.5's and people say they ride nicely.
We have only done one set of the SX's and the guy came back in a week saying how bad they were on his toy.

Go PJ's
