I was chatting with my neighbor the other day and he mentioned that he is selling a "new brand" of welding equipment called Everlast (www.everlastwelders.com). I've never heard of it but he offered me a sweetheart deal and I am thinking about picking up a plasma from him. He has seen my brother and me build a few trucks and thought that some of the folks on this board might be interested. I am trying to get him to sign up as a vendor but want some feedback from you guys first.

- Is anyone familiar with this product? Good or bad? Keep in mind that this is not for welding/cutting 40 hours a week. More like 40 hours a year.

- If I can get him to come on here, what would you like to see? Obviously a giveaway.....but what would help him sell the product? I was thinking about having him provide someone with a welder and/or plasma in exchange for an honest writeup on the board. You think that will work?

Let me know as I am ready to buy now and just want to make sure that I make an informed decision.

Looks like the Mitech stuff sold about everywhere. If he can actually provide replacement parts for the various machines that need them by now he'll get some business.

Everlast and Longevity are in an eternal feud over on welding web (I think they're in laws or something). If you go there, notice that each one has purchased their own forum section there. They tend to delete any bad press in their sections so you'll need to go to the "other brands" forum to actually learn anything about them. In a nutshell, their customer service sucks (both of them)... Try parker or giantech for the same class stuff with MUCH better service. You'll probably be supprised at their prices also.

Oh, by the way, here's a thread that's had my attention for some time now.

I have an Everlast Super200P. I bought it on Ebay. I took the chance and bought it. Machine works fine. So for me it was a good thing.

As far as I can read they are all the same, so if one is not around I can get the parts and consumables from any of them. And Praxair, my local welding shop, has the same torch parts that work with mine. I took the torch in to them expecting to get ribbed.

FYI, have a Ford Explorer 1994 Limited. But looking for a cheap 4x4 to mod for my son.
