Well I thought I had everything I needed to finish the outers on my 74 Waggy D44 swap in my CJ. I know it been covered a million times yet I still have issues..
So Axle is a 74 Waggy D44 with flattop knuckes. I picked up what I believe was 88 Ford 1/2 ton Hubs/Rotors/Lockouts.
Problem.. waggy inner hub bearing is larger than Ford bearing, so Spindle is too large for Ford bearing and Waggy bearing that fits spindle does not fit in the Ford hub..
So is the spindle too large or do I possibly have wrong Ford outers?
Also noticed Ford Hub is approx 1/2" shorter than the Waggy Hub. From WMS out to where lockout attached

According to everything I have read I should have the small bearing spindles, I should be able to take the Ford stuff (also should be correct according to year) and everything should come together.
I have pics, but have not ponied up for a red star.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks

I'd say you have the wrong spindles, lots of the early bronco guys just take the big bearing spindles to a machine shop and have them turned down in size so the small bearing fits.

i'm pretty sure with my 74 waggy spindles i had to use the 77-85.5 ford hubs/rotors. whats the casting number on the spindles.

Hi IBGPIN, my Son and I did the same project a few months ago. We are also in Lindsay,Ontario, Canada. We used Ford hubs, chevy spindles, we had to machine the hub to fit the GM inner bearing cup. We also had to machine the the beraring bore on the inside of the hub deeper into the hub. Be careful not to go too far or the hub will be junk, I dont remember the correct depth. Doing the machining alows the hub to move into the spindle, then the bearings can be adjusted proplery and the brake clipers will fit proplery. It all works well, on the jeep xj, chevy spindles, chev calipers and ford hubs. This gave us 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern. Cheers. MUDHUTR and Rusty Iron
