: Cantina Raffle Ticket Sales
JeepingEaglesChick 07-23-2008, 10:03 AM You may have heard about this event. It's the Rubicon Trail Foundations Cantina for the Con hosted by the Dysfunctional Rockcrawlers at the Loon Lake Spillway. We would love to see you there, but if you can't make it it's okay.
We'll still take your money. You can still buy tickets! I can give you 5,000 reasons why you should.
An anonymous donor has offered to match every dollar spent on "online" raffle ticket sales up to $5000!!!!
What does this mean? For every dollar you spend in "online" raffle tickets, the anonymous donor will match it dollar for dollar. Our goal is to sell $5,000 in "online" raffle tickets. But we need you're help!
FAQ:
I don't live in the area can I still win?
YES, you can. We don't care where you live, we just want your support. So if you win a prize we will send it to you. We do ask that you pay for shipping if it's a large item.
Do I have to be at the event to win?
NO, you don't. We understand that you want to help us support the trail and might not be able to make it for what ever reason. (Even though you're missing out on great tacos.)
How much are tickets?
Raffle ticket prices are:
1 for $1
7 for $5
15 for $10
32 for $20
85 for $50
200 for $100
How do I purchase tickets??
Unfortunately, this year we are not able to accept paypal donations for raffle tickets. We will gladly accept your check or money order made out to the Rubicon Trail Foundation (RTF). We ask if you would like to purchase tickets, please send an email to cantinaticketsales@gmail.com with the following information:
Your name
Home address
E-mail
Phone Number
# of tickets you would like
Please make your check or money order out to: Rubicon Trail Foundation
Send it to:
Cantina Raffle Donations
c/o Reanna Mourgos
PO Box 1952
Danville, CA 94526
When your money is received, you will receive an email back with your individual ID# and your ticket numbers. Please note this is not automatic and must be done by a real live person, so please allow us time to process your information.
Thanks for your support.

Rubicrawler 07-23-2008, 11:19 AM Thanks Reanna :smokin:
For those that don't know, 100% of the money you donate goes directly to the Rubicon Trail Foundation. The RTF puts your donations to work by supporting FOTR work parties including supplies and food for the volunteers, promote Land Use education, support Law Enforcement on the trail, help fund the Ham Radio repeater project, etc. Bottom line is that the money you so generously donate goes back into the Rubicon Trail and, yes, it's tax deductible!
The RTF and TDO thank you for the generous support you have given us for the last three years and we hope we can count on your support once again this year :smokin:
glaZe76 07-23-2008, 12:38 PM Thanks Reanna, RTF, and TDO! I will be sending some money your way! Cant wait. Last year was a blast!
Cheers!
RockMolester 07-23-2008, 01:21 PM Last year I gave $350. I plan to beat that this year.
JeepingEaglesChick 07-23-2008, 04:16 PM RTF needs your $$ people!

mrs._danger 07-24-2008, 10:21 AM Hey I was coming to do that. :flipoff2: Great minds think a like!
Jeepndel 07-24-2008, 02:02 PM Where ever Stac and I go in our travels for land use and access, we brag about this event -- how basically one club (yes, with a lot of helpers), on one weekend, took a simple idea of tacos in the spillway, and turned it into one of the largest fund-raisers around -- with all the money going to help the most famous trail in the world!
Our support of this, no matter where you live, or how much you can give, is totally crucial to the Rubicon and our work efforts. Let's get it done (again) and get even MORE raised to keep the Rubicon alive and well for all (and forever).
Thank you TDO and your helpers and friends. And especially to those of you who spend a better part of the week before getting supplies, rounding up raffle tickets and getting the food ready. Wow. GREAT job. GREAT cause. AWESOME group of folks.

I have a silly question, and maybe I should search because it's probably been gone over before. But, The money made from the cantina over the years... How does it get used? Just curious...

It's not a silly question. Actually, it's a very common one. 100% of the money raised goes to the Rubicon Trail Foundation . The money is used to support the Friends of the Rubicon work parties with supplies & eguipment, feed volunteers, support on the ground Law enforcement, train volunteers in how to become leaders and educate trail users just to name a few. One long range goal is to be in the position to purchase land on and along the Rubicon Trail ensuring access for future generations.

The Pirates of the Rubicon was one of the very first clubs to step up and do something to help maintain & save the Rubicon Trail. Your Clean-ups inspired many of us to become pro-active and to try to make a difference. POR has always supported the Cantina and we really appreciate it:smokin:

I could not agree more.
My first trail clean EVER was one of the POR clean up's.
Those were good times, and I am hoping the Cantina inspires people the way the days of old cleans up inspired me.

cruzila 08-26-2008, 10:09 AM Right now one of our biggest priorities is to get a bit of a savings account going. We want to insure that the Rubicon Trail Foundation is here to stay for generations. We also spent money this year to hire some professional help with more fundraising. That money has been very well spent and the contract has been renewed already.
We have made over 100!! new Ham Radio operators and trained a large group of new volunteer leaders. That is important because while it is not a requirement, most of the FOTR leaders you see have been through this leadership/stewardship class.
We used over 100 FOTR volunteers and built a repeater vault on private property so we have full coverage for Ham Radio year round on the Rubicon!!!
We sponsored three major FOTR work parties so far this summer and the food has been awesome thanks to our volunteers. Not to mention some real work done on the trail.
Property acquisition is one of our long term goals and an owner will want to see income and an organization with a record before selling.
How about potties on the Con?? We want to see those too!!
All these things take money and right now we have good relations with County and State and Federal agencies. That is something we Directors and Officers do that you may not see. We take time out of our days and meet with these folks all for free. No one is paid on our board and actually we also donate to the RTF.

Director RTF

mrs._danger 08-26-2008, 03:45 PM Scott thanks for that post. I'm not sure people realize what RTF does from them that they can't see. The reason's you stated are why we pick RTF to donate the money to in the first place.
stjames151 08-26-2008, 03:56 PM I sent in my check for the raffle as part of the online matching today, but if it doesn't get there by tomorrow I still get my tix at the event, right? If it doesn't get there till thurs, does RTF still get the matching funds?
