Not unless said rim can resist 6000+ lbs of rotational force...........
Countersunk female 3/8" concrete inserts. I don't like it in the way either, but if you wanna bend tube and don't have air/hydro it is what it is. Or you can mount it to the hitch of your truck..........:flipoff2:

Hitch of the truck or make a permanent mount that you can bolt the bender to so you can remove it and put it to the side when you are done. It will stick up a little bit but better than the whole bender sitting there. At the point that you want something to not stick up at all, it would be just as 'cheap' to go with hydro at which point the bender is pushing against itself and no need to bolt down.

I poured a ~ 24x24" slab next to my driveway specifically for the bender. About 8" deep with 4 rebar spikes going down about 2 feet and rebar inside the form. Stuck the 4 studs in for the bender mount while it was still wet.

or sink some receiver tube into the concrete and build your stand out of the smaller receiver tube so it'll set right in. But again, money to pour new concrete. Easier to do a HF air over hydro setup.

I have limited space too. I made this thing to bolt to the floor. It actually goes into the floor about 6 " to give more support to the upright. It's about 3" above the floor, IIRC.
I have since painted the base part yellow, but haven't tripped yet. I have also welded nuts at all the attachment points to make everything more solid than the 5/8" pin allows.
Made it in anticapation of my JD2 bender. I've bent some 1.5" .095 wall with no problems.
Have a vise, buffer, grinder, 8" shear and the tubing bender that can mount in this. Also have a reciever on my welding table, (And my jeep)

I have used a manual bender that was mounted to a cart with wheels on it. It isn't the most fun thing in the world to use, but it has been used to build 1.5 buggies with and it can be stored in the corner of the shop.
IMHO, if you are working in a shop with limited space and a desire to be able to bend your tube indoors I'd suggest spending the money on a hydraulic ram and putting the bender on a cart so that it can be moved around as you bend stuff. Depending on what you're bending, you're going to need quite a bit of space for the tube to swing around. I have run into space issues before when using a permanently mounted bender, where I haven't run into any when the bender is movable so you can work around obstacles.

Gosh, I just made a stand for mine with three wheels that can lock. No problems.
Of course, the air over hydro might have something to do with that :flipoff2:

x2 on the air-over.
2 stationary casters, 2 rotating casters. when bending in tight quarters the tube will run up against something (wall, bench, car door, etc) then pivot around the die.

I did the receiver tube recessed into a small pad on the edge of the driveway. I laid some pea gravel down first and poured the concrete around the tube. That way the water can drain. It works pretty well but it's a pain to lug that big heavy bitch out there. I hope to be doing the air over hydro with a roll around stand soon.

I have mine mounted right in front of the garage door, just far enough inside so the door can be closed. The door has to be open to insert a tube in there, of course. Seems to work ok in an overcrowded 2 car garage

Mine is bolted to my flatdeck trailer. My first concrete pad has a shed over it now, and I didn't feel like making another. It works well. I'm going to do the copperhead fab air conversion soon anyway.

Has anyone converted one of the horizontal style benders to vertical?

I dug a hole, reinforced with rebar, dropped in the all thread, and made a cover so no one would fall and hurt themselves on it. It is also low enough that if I move, I can just cover it with dirt and no one will know it was there. I unbolt it when not in use and store it in the garage.

we made a mount to put it on a trailer before we converted to hydro. gave a big platform to work on, and was stable.

For the $ do the air/hydro conversion then you can put it on casters and move it wherever you want!!!

Ditto here on the hole in the ground. Didn't use rebar, but instead used the 5000 psi concrete. The slab is about 10-12" thick, and I used 4-80 lb. bags. Set the bolts in while it was wet. The pedestal can serve as a winch anchor if I ever get stuck in the backyard... :D

Yes. I can't find the picture I ran across on the web, but i just stood my JD2 vertical, built a stand on castersand used an air over hydro ram from H.F. That's one of the best hundo bills i've spent in awhile. I too set my JD2 up in a small shop, 24x36 mounted to the floor with drop in anchors. It was fine, sometimes, but not always. When I didn't use it, I unbolted it and stored it in the corner. I would find the need to just bend some shock hoops or something small and get :mad3: because I had to drag it out, set it up, bend the tube, then remove it.
The best piece of advice, I have to offer is to go ahead and convert it. It's so much more handy now. We use it more, because we just roll it out hook an airline to it and bend.

I bolted mine to the concrete floor inside the garage. I live in the Northwest where it rains every other day and I didn't want to leave my $1,000 bender out side or have to level up the bender every time I moved it due to the 2% grade on the concrete floor.
Take a look in the vendor tool section.
A lot of us fabricators run into a common problem when bending a long piece of tube, you often run into a fixed object, project vehicle, work bench or walls.
I am selling a mounting plate that gets welded to your vertical tube bender post. It allows you to rotate your bender in 45 degree increments and swing the bender 360 degrees in any direction.
Greatly reduces the amount of splices you will have to make due to limited space in your shop.
Works on JD2, JMR & Pro Tools tube benders.
Laser cut from 3/8" thick steel.
There is video showing how this plate works at http://www.swagoffroad.com/Infinite_...ing_Plate.htm
Take a look at the Youtube video as well. YouTube - Infinite 8" Tube Bender Mounting Plate JMR, Pro-Tools, JD2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gg_kfBb0WaM)

Could you please post up a photo of your stand and the pump setup?
