plug ugly

Ingersoll is NO help at all. I have an IR 110V 2 cycle compressor, oil less. There is no placard on the compressor anywhere indicating CFM, etc. I have some numbers on the marathon electric motor (3/4 hp, 1725 rpm, 110 v, etc) and only a model number of HBF7 and a serial number on the pump. IR says they have NO info on the pump itself.
I would really like to upgrade to a better motor, whether 110 or 220, cause the pump is super quiet. Can I just throw a faster turning (3000 plus RPM) motor with more horse and 220 on there, or are pumps only rated to do so much? How do you know when you reach critical mass?
