I recently bought an axle with Warn's birf eliminator & Warn hubs. I just finished installing new bearings and seals, as well as new steering arm studs. (4 studs sheered off on the Rubicon, hence the rebuild) My question is - my hubs are heating up after my initial test drive. Any ideas? Do I need to fill knuckle with grease? No birfs. The u-joints are greased, but they just ride in the knuckle dry, correct?? Any help would be appreciated.

Factory manaul wont tell me anything about this axle. It has no birfields, that is why I didn't pack them. No grease was in the knuckle before I took it apart and the hubs never even heated up. I packed the bearings in grease.

No grease in the knuckle = no grease to the top and bottom knuckle bearings.
Hell yes the factory (or Haynes, or Gregory's) manual would tell you that!
Birfs or U-joints, your knuckle still needs hi-temp bearing grease.
Did you pack your wheel bearings with grease?

You might want to try posting this question on the Toy Truck section of this BB - there are probably more people there who run Birfield illiminators. Just a thought:(
And shit
(gee, where'd that come from;) )

Is the preload set correct on the wheel bearings?
