: Old school (Holy Grail to me) Chevy truck
Filthy McChevy 07-23-2008, 09:48 PM Looks like I am going to get this truck. Yeah! Still a few out there. Manual transmission too. Not sure why it has a srw front 60 with a duallie rear but I can work with that.

if it is infact a 60 still, good deal...but double check that it isn't a d44 or 10b before you get TOO happy.
trkklr77 07-23-2008, 10:09 PM yup.
i can see what i think is a caliper pin hole in the p sdie pic = d44/10b
relatively cleean cab and clip too, short 4door here we come......
looks like a pin hole,
but i can tell if that is a shock or the kingpin cap. knuckle looks taller than c which is d60......
just4cuz 07-23-2008, 10:23 PM If the price was right I'd drag that Dodge home too!
b454rat 07-23-2008, 11:02 PM Those hubs are too big for a 44/10, and bolts holding them on are small....
megatoy66 07-23-2008, 11:25 PM Looks like a 60 to me with a spicer locking hub, plus the headlight bezels look like 78-80 model year which would be correct for the dana 60 front.
GMCTruxrule 07-23-2008, 11:33 PM That front brake looks very decidely to me like a Bendix style brake caliper, in keeping with the way too heavy hunk of metal 60.:D
Edit: The rear looks to wide to be a dually rear (could be very wrong)(edit #2: I think I am wrong)
And the dooley flares are definitly NOT factory.
I'd drive the hell out of it.
Edit #3: I'd chop about 18 feet off of it and then drive the hell out of it. :)
florida4x4 07-24-2008, 04:34 AM Hub looks like a 60 to me. All the rotors on 44's I've seen had slots in them but that's probably not a rule...
CDA 455 07-24-2008, 04:39 AM Nice find!

not factory? then what would they be haha. they would be direct replacement aftermarket
jenks21 07-24-2008, 05:44 PM Well I am still noob. I see the king pin, isn,t that the give away. Or did 44's have kingpins too?
later

cj8scrambld 07-24-2008, 05:56 PM As trkklr77 stated he could not tell if that is the KP in the photo or the shock. I say KP as that is not the right place for the shock mount.......
leeman1790 07-24-2008, 06:09 PM Yeah, most def. a "home-made dually". Which would explain srw hubs.
Odin K30 07-24-2008, 08:47 PM relatively cleean cab and clip too, short 4door here we come......
Exactly what I had in mind.
Ive always wanted to build a crewcab shortbed.:grinpimp:
GMCTruxrule 07-25-2008, 12:27 AM not factory? then what would they be haha. they would be direct replacement aftermarket
Meaning the truck didn't come with them from the factory genuis.:shaking:
big94GMC 07-25-2008, 05:41 AM Good score, man!! I gotta know, how much are you draggin' it home for?? And, what is your total plan for it??

Believe it or not, I am trading a71 Mercedes 300 for it. I already have a 77 Jimmy for wheeling, it has an Eaton rear and a D60 front from a M1008 so this truck will not get scavenged from. I want to drive it restored to original. Back to singles in the rear too. I have a carbed and a TBI 454 so one of them will be it's motor.
Took some newer pics last night. I knew it was a front 60 the first time I saw it several years ago. Somebody put a junkyard D70 rear in it.

nvrenuf 07-25-2008, 10:37 AM mmm... Spicer hubs :smokin:
big94GMC 07-25-2008, 11:02 AM Wow, man, that's a freakin' NICE find! How long has it been sitting there? (How long have you known about it?)
captain_chunk 07-25-2008, 11:54 AM Looks like the exact sort of thing I've been trying to track down for converting my '72 over to 4wd. Good luck with it.
Filthy McChevy 07-25-2008, 04:39 PM Wow, man, that's a freakin' NICE find! How long has it been sitting there? (How long have you known about it?)
Its been sitting there with a bad engine for at least 6 years. The owner is a really nice guy but also a kind of whacked out Vietnam vet. I have been trying hard to get ahold of him for the last year and he has been out of touch, but he finally stopped by the other day. I still have to somehow get a title from him too. Could be interesting.
trkklr77 07-25-2008, 07:59 PM junkyard d70? the vast majority of duallys had d70's, in fact the pside still has the dually setup on it.
Filthy McChevy 07-25-2008, 08:27 PM It has yellow greasepencil writing on the diff.. Says 74 and some other stuff.
SouthernK5 07-26-2008, 03:01 AM nice find
the rear is a d70HD 73" WMS, its just got a SRW rim/tire on the left side, and dually rim/tire on the right side. i just swapped one of them under my k5 and did disc conversion with 14b SRW hubs and now its at 77.5" WMS, perfect matching for DRW 60. that would be badass with 4" and 37's on H1's :grinpimp:
trkklr77 07-26-2008, 03:10 AM 78-80?
nvrenuf 07-26-2008, 09:37 AM 78-80?
The grille and headlamp bezel combo should make it a 79.
Warpig58 07-26-2008, 04:34 PM Check the VIN and glovebox door, that probably started off as a 1T SRW, which means the 60 is probably original. x2 on the 79 grill, GM only had that combo one year. Non-chrome grill 80's used the same headlight bezel with a different grill. Ford offered the D70 in SRW 1 tons, so putting that back to SRW (if that's your plan) is doable.
