From Offroad Adventures....looks like a Ford 302 with C4 and Atlas 3, Diff's hummer corporate 20's, hummer portals, 3010lbs, 106"WB, 84" wide with 21-24 of ground clearance, with 10" of wheeltravel using 12" sway away coilovers....the pictures look interesting and its a 2 seater.....inline...

it is built out of all straight tube, miter cut and rewelded. No bends anywhere that I could see.
I also thought he said it was heavier? Not much flex, but it was gettin the job done.

I guess everybody got their issue about the same time? :p Mine came this morning ;)

I like the IFS/IRS.... Would loveto have a 4 seater version of it, would work well around here I think...

Pat had the rig at TTC this year, defininatly an interesting concept (Hmmm .... staring harder at my own collection of HMMWV portals.....;) ;) )
and it 'wheels great ( from what I saw , even with almost no downtravel in the suspension)....... He was still working out some of the bugs at TTC
ie: very leaky front diff and a bent steering ram in the rear, that and he had no covers on anything! ( the front driveshaft was whipping right by the drivers leg/feet/dangling shoelaces.... )

First off Pat and his family are extremely nice,

Second he is a tinkerer... I think everything of his is a work in progress... So it changes from event to event.

He had it at the Kremmling event. Not one bent tube. All mitered and welded. It does pretty good from what I saw.Love the clearance. He did break a CV though.I didn't get any pics but my friend may have. Will have to wait and see.

I drove Pat's rig at ttc and was really impressed. It's like straddling a cow with the motor right between your legs.
It felt very smoth and light and seemed to take on terrain effortlessly. Sence there is almost no down travel, tires are always lifting, but it keeps going.
It's a buggy and it looks like a buggy. Nothing else.

The cow analogy works..

Daniel, picture a Honda odessy at about 125% size with a 5.0, C4 and an atlas...oh and don't forget the hummer IFS....

Randy said everyone is going to be build these. Campbell's (sp?) already have one, Currie is working on one, Walker too.

I think I'll have to wait and see how these IFS/IRS rigs do as they get the bugs worked out. Pat is a great tinkerer, so if it can be done, he'll find a way - but from what I saw in Kremmling, I'm not too impressed with the IFS/IRS set-up. It would make a lot of the trails a nice ride, but for the big boulders, it just seems to not be able to do it. The only plus I see is the flat bottom, that is a very nice plus!

Sweet...I love the tandam seating. One of those would be cool to use to blast around my buddy's game ranch, gravel roads, etc.

How strong are the CV's on these IFS setups?

Is it Hummer stuff? That stuff should be stout on something 1/4 the weight of what it was designed for.

Why are Hummer shafts so small? There were two in the bays yesterday at work, and I was checkin them out... I couldn't get over how small they were!

they are small because 1/2 of the gear reduction is at the hub... the diff is only like 2.43-1 the additional is at the hub (on the other side of the shaft
