: Full Width Axles?
YellowCJ 09-05-2001, 10:47 AM I am considering full width axles for the stability, but I still want to be able to drive it on the street. It isn't a daily driver, but are full width's going to be awkward, or is it not that big of a deal?
What are you running?

SCRAPER 09-05-2001, 11:46 AM im putting full width one ton axles on my daily driver. Keth Strong is running them on his and i think he likes them. its not a problem.

Jason, I've been thinkin about doing the same on mine, narrow track is just plain scary with SOA and 2" springs, and I havent even driven it like that yet. It'll make the tires stick out about 6 more inches on each side if you use the same offset rim, but here in Texas thats close enough to street legal.
Mike Knorr 09-05-2001, 01:26 PM Depends on were you live. On a daily driver here you wouldn't get ten feet with full width axles with out getting a ticket.
Personally I like around 60" with wide tires. Gives me plenty of stability and isn't to wide. I have seen to wide be as much of a pain as to narrow.
Full width is great with a tall lift. In my area, as long as the tires don't stick out from the fenders more then 2", the cops let it go. I'm using 69" front and 62" back (w/different deep backspacing on front to make them closer ) and some cheezy fenders flares. I'm tring to think up a removable flare so I would'nt keep smashing them in the rocks.
Mcstiff 09-05-2001, 02:34 PM Anybody runnign full width axles on a XJ?

I traded emails with a Texas DPS guy and he said there was nothing on the books that "he" knew of that would make running fullwidth a bad thing. I asked about the mudflap law for duallies and he said that was because they fell under a different section of code due to their weight, that a jeep didn't qualify.... Take this for what you want.
I'm not sure whether or not the local fuzz would even care, as long as we didn't look like hoodlums doing it.
I just scored me an extremely late model '97 Corp 14 for only a little cash and it just so happens I got my $300 tax refund in the mail. I think I'm gonna buy a Detroit. After disks from TSM, I go D60 hunting.
Hell I ain't even wheel'd it yet. After I get my 465 installed we need to hook up at a TAMOR thing or something. I've seen your rig around over by tractor supply.
