I'm working on a 1983 Massey Ferguson 230 tractor.
It has a 3 cyl perkins diesel with a mechanical injector pump.
It is leaking fuel where the banjo bolt and fitting goes into the injector pump.
I put new washers, replaced one of th fittings, and I still can't get the thing to quit leaking. There is no place for a rubber o-ring.
The old washers were copper, the new ones were steel. They didn't work, so I found some aluminum washers, it is still leaking.
Any one have any ideas before I pull the pump?

Check to make sure that there are no scratches or cracks in the banjo and the bolt. Those washers are the seal/o-ring for those fittings and copper really is the best material for them but aluminum usually works well too. I wouls be willing to bet that there is a gouge in the sealing surface of either the bolt or the banjo fitting itself.

what he said. Plus, there should be a return line or bleed screw in the banjo bolt. check it too.

I've checked the fittings and the banjo bolt.
The only thing I really can't get a look at is the pump.
One cylinder I can see really well on the pump, it looks fine but is still seeping.
The bottom fuel line is the one that is a bad leak.
The back one isn't leaking at all.
I guess I'll have to pull the pump for a closer inspection.

Is it leaking on the block side or the bolt side? I had one leak I couldn't get to stop on the bolt side. I really had to lean on it to get it off. The head wasn't 90 deg from the mating surface anymore. Had a nice lean to it. :shaking: I heated it up in the vise and tightened it down to an old chunk of flat steel. Fixed the warp. No more leak.
If you can find them, the ones with the tiny little groves in them.

The problem was over torqued banjo bolts that were out of round.
Someone had taken the fittings off before and reused the same washers.
I am betting the washers didn't seal, so they over tightened them hoping to get them to seal.
