Maybe one of you can help. I have a ruger p89 pistol and the and the slide will not go back far enough to lock so i can start to disassemble it. :mad3: I do not see anything bent and all i need is about an extra 1/4 inch so that i can pull down the flap that is in the magazine area and take it apart.

There is enough movement that it can load a round, i will not test fire it in this condition, there is no rust and i just cleaned it about 3 months ago before putting it away in the case and everything worked fine then.

I think my girl did something when she tried to load a round a couple nights ago when a group was hanging out in out lawn and i was at work. I have shown it to a couple of friends that are decent with weapons but non of them could figure it out, along with looking on the web with no success. I would rather ask, then take it to a gun dealer and that will charge for something that i can do. :homer:

Thanks.

Not trying to insult you...

Did you take out the magazine? Also, IIRC correctly a P89 doesnt need to be full lock to remove the take down latch does it? You need to align the half moon with the latch...

LOL yea the mag is out but i get teh first allignment and can pull the latch out but all that does is relese the barrel and free it up in the slide. That flap in the magazine area needs to come down i guess to release the slide and allow me to pull it off

Working from memory here;

Lock slide back.
Poke finger in ejector port flip down "flap" (I didn't say I had a good memory.). The "flap" will be below the firing pin and will flip forwad.
Once the "flap" is down, release the slide and it should come off.

I have one of their manual at the house. I'll check it tonight.

correct but the issue is the slide will not move far enough back to lock and i cannot access the flap because the slide will not move far enough back.

if you were shooting the gun ... when the mag runs dry would the slide stay locked back?

Did you check the but-4 assembly?

Post some hi res pics so we can see it. I bet there is a broken pin or spring or something stupid blocking it.

Reminds me of when I had my win 1300 defender home defense 12ga out playing with it in the house (like we all do:D), would pump, but would not chamber a round, and had a rattle, this was the closet gun and would not chamber:eek: Tore it all down, found a 22lr shell in the reciever, kept the bolt from sliding all the way back. Must have fallen in the shotguns case, and bounced into the gun on the way home.
