I received a letter from General Motors regarding my 2004 GMC Sierra. They have offered to fix or replace the instrument panel. It seems many have failed. Mine currently has a fuel gauge that is not operating properly and the tach intermittently does not read properly.

I contacted the Dealer and they tell me to bring it in. If they diagnose the problem not being something they can fix they will replace it for free, if they find a problem and they can fix it then they will charge me.

Anyone else have to deal with this? What was your experience? What to you think about this?

Its supposed to be covered no matter what. Not sure why they would charge you to just fix it if there was a recall on it either way. I drive a 03 silverado and there was the same thing and mine was done no charge.

This is not an "official" recall, they are classifying it as a courtesy repair, if needed.
The courtesy repair is if they have to replace the instrument panel not just fix a gauge or two.

If they can repair, I pay. If they replace then no charge.

I trying to find out if anyone else has gone through this and what happened to them.

Did they replace the instrument panel or repair gauges?

They replaced the whole cluster assembly.
