got a 97 chevy s10 4x4... i blew my tranny (5 spd) and picked up one from a early 90s s10... only difference i can see is that its mechanical clutch and not hydraulic... am i correct? if so i can just get the clutch pedal linkage and cable and it should be good right? thanks ... pretty sure bellhousing and unpit shaft are all the same... or am i wrong

my 83 had the manual clutch but it was a 2.8. also my work truck a few years back was a 85 with the 2.8 but it went hydrolic. seems kinda weird that a 90s would have the cable clutch

I have one in a 94 S-10 4X4, you can have it if you pull it. It is a Hydrolic clutch too.

are you asking or telling that the bell and input shaft are the same? if you are asking, then it has to be from the same motor. 2.8's do not have the same bell as a 4.3. 2.5's and 2.2 do not share a bell either as i am aware. the one i dont know is if a 2.5 and a 4.3 share a bell, i thought i remember hearing once that the 2.5 had the v8 bell in some applications or something like that, but i cant say for sure.

The only other engine stated that has a V-8 bell besides the 4.3 is the 2.8 which i beleive carries the same bell as the 4.6 Northstar engine.

the 2.8 does not have the v8 bell, at least not the chevy 90* one that we are talking about. trust me, i would be running a sm465 behind my 2.8 if it were so.

my gf's 91 w/2.8 and the 5 spd has a hydraulic clutch. I hate the fucking thing.

Is it normal for the clutch to engage half-way through the stroke? All the manual trans. vehicles I've driven have been mechanical and the clutch starts engaging as soon as the pedal starts to come off the floor. In the s-10 it doesn't grab untill my foot if half-way off the floor and it drives me nuts.

You are correct but i beleive the 4.6 Northstar engine is as an upgrade for S-10's with the 2.8 auto trans. I cant remeber what they did for the starter whole because the starter is under the intake on the Northstar engine.

that in the adjustments of the linkages.

i have mine setup so that it dissingages alomst immediately and does come back in till the end of the stroke
