Sweet ride, 4 link it/coilovers, stretch the wheel base, throw a 351 Windsor/C6/9"s in it, make it a Zukirail.
:D:D

Anyways, awesome ride!

That's a lot of work! I am just fearing the cost of a good exhaust on it! Right now all I want to do is weld the rear end up, replace the A/C belt, get all the windows fixed and install my Audio for the moment. I think I may turbo this thing and do some suspension strengthening.

Sounds like the start of a great BEATER! The last auto Tintop Track/Kick we put together we added a front skid plate, pulled the 4.62's and installed some 5.12 gears then some 31X10.50's and she was ready to wheel/beat/launch over the hills & the rocks .....way too much fun!!!

That sounds like a plan... I have a front 5.12, I just need a rear.

check it out before you pull the chunks, I got a set of 5.12 out of an auto equiped rig that was not a sport just a plain jane rig.

I think you'll like it. Keep an eye out for used OME suspension bits - they're worth every penny. If you want flex, ditch the front sway bar. I didn't run mine when we were at dunes last time. It's easy to take on / off if you want to see the difference.

Google "remote turbo". It's a turbo after the CAT (interesting eh?). This makes it so you don't have to come up with some crazy header, and the metal charge pipe (line from turbo to intake manifold) acts like an intercooler. I'm having a hard time finding info on turbo lag that may or may not be associated with this kind of setup. If you go turbo, you may want to consider going propane (you will have to upgrade your 8v fuel management anyway). It's 110 octane, can source parts on ebay for cheap... bla bla bla.

Welcome to the wonderful world of IFS, and 1.6L of furry - the torque is NICE. You're going to have a HUGE weight advantage over me now, and about the same power. Can I make a prediction as to who's winning the next drag race?

BTW - I love the tin-tops... I'm jealous :P

Yep! I thought there was no way I was gonna get it, but hey! There it is! haha.

My plan is to lock the rear before I hit the dunes. If I have 4.62's, I will upgrade to 5.12's and run these tires:

I get a lot of snow... This is my DD... AND I want to have the best cheap dune tires you can get.

About that turbo. I have a Thorley header on it now... Would it be better with the stock exhaust.

Holy crap! $2000 for a universal turbo kit.

I can build a turbo system for cheaper than that... I would just make a manifold, btw.

The hidden costs with turbo setups is in the fuel management & tuning. Wideband 02, wideband gauge, either a rising rate fuel pressure regulator (most turbo guru's say to avoid this for some reason), piggy back computer management, or completely replace the ECU with a stand-alone (like megasquirt).

If you can make your own header, that'll save some $$$. But - you said you like to do a lot of water crossings... and turbo's don't respond well to water crossings. They might be okay if you haven't run the turbo recently (usually only take a couple minutes to cool down), but I don't know for sure.
