I guess this is what he's talking about:

http://www.intercotire.com/assets/images/truxus_sts_all_terrain-200.jpg

Of course, for the TrXus Mud Terrain, they have this to say, on the Interco site:

The TrXus Mud Terrain is Interco's answer to the needs of those who do not require the maximum off road traction but want a superb tire with good looks.

I can't help but wonder if, they mean the same for the TrXus STS - All Terrain.

You guys notice the sizes the STS will be offered up to? 44x21!

I still think the STS tires are goofy looking though.

Might be a good deep snow tire and probably good for sand. Can't imagine anything else it would work on.

I think that the MT looks like a good snow tire; siping, less void and smaller lugs are better for the white stuff. Lots of good mud tires just suck in snow, but these look like they'd be worth a try. A lot depends on the compound. I'll probably put a set of the MT's on my Z-71 DD soon and test 'em out. Gotta replace a whole lot of IFS parts first though.

The lugs are definitely smaller than on TSL's, and closer together, BUT imho the trXus has great sidewall tread for a tire in that range. Definitely better than the snowflake stuff on my SSR's, for what it's worth. (Wheeled with folks who have them, and they seemed to go everywhere more aggressive Swampers went except for deep mud...very comparable to the BFG MT it seemed.)

Not sure about the new trXus STS though.

Stop bashin' the TRXUS!!!! I did the review on off-road. com that y'all have been lookin' at. The tires are good for their purpose, but might not be "tough" enough for you guys. They ride extremely well on the road for those of us that dont have trailer queens. Out east where we have mud.....they have torn up Tellico and have yet to give me any issues. I can keep up with every set of Swampers that I have been on the trail with....minus the infamous Bogger.
I am not 100% sure about that new AT that swamper came out with.....but, someone has to try it to find out!! The prices, no doubt, will be unbeatable. $110 for the TRXUS is chump change in the tire world. (that is for a semi-small size of course)

Just throwin' out my opinion. I know y'all don't know me.....I just hopped in to see what you guys actually talk about. I am on the East Coast......wayyyyyyyy far from all of you.

Have a good one! Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions or issues.

I am probably going to run the new swampers on my tow rig though. I will let everyone know what I think after a few weeks

Hey, easy on the trailer "queen" talk I guess what I'd like to know is how the Trxus "MT" is on pavement & in mud compared to other "MT" type tires. Does it handle as well on pavement as Cooper STT's & BFG MT's? Or, does it squirm around like Uniroyal Laredo MT's? Maybe somewhere in between like Grabber MT's?????? How 'bout in the slop? Comparable to the above? Better? Worse?

Thanks,
TEX

I've seen them on the road and they are very quit, they were on a fullsize chevy and the owner liked them alot, same with a guy with them on a ranger. I think mud performance would be great for this class of tire, look how staggered the outer tread blocks are. Wet traction with tight center blocks and sipes would be great too. I think this is THE daily driver tire. I bet those Swamper all terains are louder then most of the mud terains out there, I mean they arent much less aggresive then a baja claw and those puppys hum pretty good

I'm thinking of a set for my next tow vehicle. I've been VERY happy with Cooper STT's, but in the 235/85 & 255/85 (the size I want) sizes, there is a raised section between the center-most lugs that joins those lugs together once the tread wears to 50%. I had one set of these & they were AWESOME until they got to 50% & then they made a slick spot in the middle. Only got 32k out of those tires & tossed 'em with tons of useful tread still left on the outer lugs. Just couldn't deal with the slick spot in the middle. Have had this same tire in other sizes & none perform as well as the 255/85. But, without that extra raised rib in the center, I can get a lot more miles on the tires. So, I was thinking maybe Trxus "MT"s in the 255/85 size hoping to get more than 30k out of them. But, I don't want them if the handling is sloppy.

I agree. They don't look that aggressive, but those long, horizontal lugs will be slapping the pavement something fierce. Radial Thornbird? LOL!

My thoughts exactly. Tex, 255/85 is exactly what I was planning to put on my Z71. Give me a week or so to get the front end done and the tires on, and I'll let you know what I think.

That'll work. Looks like my attempt to find an '01 at 2.9% is coming up short. And rather than pay 4.9% on an '02 now, I think I'll wait until Spring when I have a few thou more saved up & finance less.

Check with Viva Motors in Socorro, NM. Screaming deals, no BS; very cool people. If they don't have what you're after they'll find one somewhere, or special-order and have it delivered to a dealer near you. Or, you can get a quote from them and use it to beat on your local dealers. (505) 835-2037.
