I have a 92 4.0l. Lately the truck is intermitantly not starting. I checked the fuel rail and there is no pressure when this is happening. If you keep crankning it eventually starts. Once the truck is running it wont stall out its just the initial start up that causes the problem. Any ideas what this might be, I'm thinkng that the fuel pump relay might be one possible cause.

One of your check valves is bad. I believe there are two; one in the pump and another one I can't remember. Get a service manuel and there is an easy test to do to determine which one is bad.

i have the same problem. if you cycle the key on /off/on it helps to pump up the fuel rail. the pump is very spendy so if there is another option i would be glad to hear it. (pressure reg.) ???? dunno.
