I am a Chevy guy normally, but I just found a killer deal on a '76 F-100 and I was wondering if any of you blue oval guys could help me out. It has a 360 in it and I was wondering about reliability, horsepower, torque, etc. Also it has a four speed manual with a granny gear and I was wondering how I tell if it's a T-18, T-19, T-98, and which is better. All I know about the t-case is that it is part time four wheel drive and I would like any info anybody can give me on it. Any more information any of you guys could give me on this model and year would be much appreciated. The rest of the specs that I have are 9 inch rear with limited slip (?). Front Dana 44 (?). And no A/C. The reason I mention the no A/C is I was wondering if the A/C setups from any other years or motors would match up. Thanks again.

Well is a disk brake rc44 up front and a 31spl. 9in.
the 4 speed is a 435 and the tc is probably a d-21(no low range)

Are there any other options for that t-case? I can't remember for sure but I would that at least the shifter nob for that thing showed four low, four high and two high. Also anyone know anything about that 360 or the NP435. Sources for info on adding the A/C, i.e. cost, pain in the a$$ of installation, places to buy complete kits (other than the boneyard). Also I forgot to mention I would putting a 6" lift on it and wondered what size tires I could put under it with that amount of lift (what will it fit stock as well)

You might have gotten a 205 TC. As far as AC, it wasn't offered from the factory only as a dealer option. Check some local AC shops on kits. I imagine you could pick one up for about $600 or so. Should be able to fit 35's no problem with 6"

The 435 is a great transmission. It's one of the "bulletproof" ones with a 6.69:1 low. The 360 is not the best one out there they have lots of torque and they last a long, long time.
