i have my door panel torn down, but i can't get the latch mechanism out to replace the cable that goes from the handle to the latch. any suggestions? i know--hardcore rockcrawling tech!:confused:

are you removing the door latch - or just the cable and handle mech ? -- if you are removing the door latch ( like a dealer replacment ) and have power locks the lock actuator needs to be removed ( 1 rivit near the bottom of the door ) plus you must remove the door lock rod that goes up through the door panel

all i'm trying to do is replace the cable between the handle and the latch. i can do it, if i get the latch out. do you have any other suggestions on replacing the cable? any advice is welcomed! thanks

Thread revival. Need to do this myself. Replacing just the cable looks near impossible without two double jointed dwarfs, three video cameras and an army of nano-bots.

Also I opened up the door on my '95 F250 the other day and it does not have the cable but the old pushrod. 266k miles and all I had to do there was bend the rod straight(er) and return it to original length. The old system seems so much better.... the cables always seize. My donor '96 F350 has both inner door handles broken off from the cable seizing. Even the handle on my '97 F250 w only 118k miles is already getting stiff!
