yup, but the floor board wont clear the tcase without a body lift or notching.

I just got done putting an 84 cab on an 87 frame and it went fine. However the front clip didn't go so well. The front clip was off of a 78, I believe, and the mounts on the 87 frame were different. I ended up cutting off the mounts and moving them forward about an inch and a half to get everything to line up right. The windsheild wipers are different as well, you need the short stubby ones so the 77 hood will clear them.

cabs from 73-87 are exactly the same.

you can bolt up the old fenders to the new body without a lot of problems (make sure you have the old-style hood cowling, you will need it for the hood)...the only thing i would worry about is the t-case clearance that someone said before. althought a 4wd body mount set should have the right height for the cab.

Don'y you just have to replace the removable hump with one from a 4wd?

2wd cabs have a fully welded floor, 4wd cabs have the bolt in tranny hump. Just cut a hole and reuse the tranny hump from the original 4x4 cab.

Check body mount pucks as well, I forget what the year is they changed, cabs still swap, you just need the mounts that correspond to the frame.

except for the fact that the 4x4 hump will leave a 1.5-2" gap at the back side where the floor doesnt come up high enough in a 2wd cab. if you want to swap in a hump you colu try a 2wd manual truck that had the 465 not a 3spd. it has a bolt in hump that will swap out but the back of the hump and cab will still be to low to clear the tcase.

I'm in the process of swapping a 79 2wd truck cab onto my frame...and its RUST FREE. I like the idea of swapping the bolton peice of the tunnel, or I might just cut to make room and then rebuild around.

I've done this swap. I put an '84 2wd auto cab on a '79 4wd, 4spd frame. It worked great with a body lift. I just cut holes for the shifters and it put the shifters at the same height to floor ratio as a 4wd cab w/no body lift. You can kinda see it in this picture. http://coloradok5.com/photos/showphoto.php/photo/555/cat/500/ppuser/18338/sl/g

i'v done a few with the body lift cutting holes for the shifters.seems like on the 86 cab to 77 frame the rear crossmember that the body mounts go to were different heights.think i reused the older style mount spacers in the rear.i built that truck in the early 90"s and my memory is lacking.its a easy swap.

no, they are the same. the trany crossmembers are different, but still interchange.

The only difference are the front clip mounts. The cabs are the same. Still an easy swap

you can make it work, but the body lines are slightly different, and the hood hinges for the 87 cab are mounted in the firewall, and not on the fenders like a 77.

there is something different in the frame or crossmember, just don't remember the particulars.not that it matters its just nuts and bolts very easy
