Woohoo, the FrankenRover 110 is a rolling chassis. Got the 30 spline rear diff in the axle and put it all together last night. Kinda interesting doing it by yourself (used an engine hoist to pick up the frame and move it into position).
Now I am just replacing all of the old hardware with new Grade 8 stuff and installing the shock mounts, steering hardware, and the rest of the suspension stuff.
The 300 tdi should be in very shortly, as well as the Bilstein 7100's, the new steering column, the crawler, and the freshly painted body work (dark maroon).
I am waiting on a motor mount jig to come in, then I will cut off the v-8 mounts and weld on some tdi mounts.
Once I get all the stuff together in the garage, we will be having some major late night sessions getting it all put together in time for Solihull Society Nat. Rally

And the last one. Sorry for the poor quality picts - as the built in flash is very anemic.

Dude,
SWEEETNESSSS!!!!
Tell me about your front shock mounts. IF/WHEN I can figure out a clean way to do some on the crewcab I'll put the air springs up front too.
I am DYING to see some pics of the bodywork. Dark Maroon will be classy but not too prissy. :flipoff2:
It'll also look nice, contrasted against the Entrada Sandstone of Upper Helldorado! I have pictured in my mind just the spot where you'll leave some of it! Hehe. :flipoff2:
I think that you and I are in a race against time to get ready for Moab.
Patience young Jedi!

bill what are you going to run for the rear trailing arms? Looks like you still have the stock mounts so are you just going to throw some stock arms in the back? Looks great by the way hope that I get to see it sometime soon.

Thanks for the support guys,
Worked on things some tonight. Freshened up the paint on the shock mounts (Desert Rover Rears and Doug M. fronts) and mounted them on the 110 frame (ready for the Bilstein 7100's - short body 14" travel ext. reserv.).
Also took delivery of the Ashcroft Crawler on Monday. Cannot wait to get the thing in the rebuilt 1.4 box I have (although the instructions leave something to be desired).
Talked with KC up at NSO, and we have some interesting plans for some parts of the 110, but I will keep you in suspense for a while on that (can't blow all my secrets, can I?).
Later for now,
