: TBI 350 swap...couple questions...

I have a 93 YJ with waggy 44s. I threw a rod in the 4.0 doing a deep water crossing. Instead of swapping another 4.0, I have found myself a 1987 chevy sub 4x4 as the donor. I know the tbi 350 swap is pretty straight forward, but should I hang on to the Transfer case from the Chevy or get an adapter and use the Jeep xfer case?

I have been reading and it seems like everyone is dogging on the 700R4, but is that because they are running it in larger vehicles? I want to run 36" tires with that TBI 350 and lockers front and rear in the future. It has 4.88 gears.

Any suggestions?

If the tcase is on the same side as the stock one, I'd use it.

About the 700r4, the consensus seems to be split either way, but the opponents are the louder ones. If I kill mine I'll switch to a th400, seems there are more tcase options for it.

i wish i could have ran a 700r4 in my cj. i stuck with the t-5. and my 400hp 355cid tbi is too much for it. the 700r4 is the tranny to get. cause there is so many options out there. and it is easy to build and upgrade. i would stick with the chevy t-case just cause it's all there already.
