: Going full hydro steer-I need some help??????
CRAWLTOY 10-14-2001, 09:42 PM Okay I need an orbital but which one and what the difference between self generating and not. Do I need to change my steering pump to hydraulic pump for more volume? Which size ram work the best 2x8 or smaller. Its a trail rig only.If you have any pics that would be greatly appreciated. What over parts besides this do I need. Thanks for any help Rob Also one last thing how do you hook your steering shaft to the orbital.
JONYJEEPER 10-14-2001, 09:49 PM heres a pic of my setup..i cant remember the exact out put of the vavle but i think it was like 3.5 turns and the displacement was like7.3..a self generating valve will let you turn when you have no power,we all used our saginaw pump but you will need to run a cooler
CRAWLTOY 10-14-2001, 09:50 PM where the pics??

sorry here
CRAWLTOY 10-14-2001, 09:53 PM can it be hooked to the steering shaft i have now?if a made a bracket or adapter
You need a front axle to hook it all up to
CRAWLTOY 10-14-2001, 09:57 PM shit dont remind me, just trying to get all the parts together incase it ever gets delivered
JONYJEEPER 10-14-2001, 10:10 PM i think you can buy just the steering column part and cut the splines off and use them..or i think ive heard that they sell just the splined part..
CRAWLTOY 10-14-2001, 10:15 PM cool I m goin to a hydro store tomarrow to check out part and prices
JONYJEEPER 10-14-2001, 10:22 PM i think i ended up spending about 450 -500 $total its a damn good option though.
CRAWLTOY 10-15-2001, 12:03 AM not bad thats about what i figure. Do i need any pressure valve control vavles or anything like that. If anyone has pics of there setup plz show me thnx
CRAWLTOY 10-15-2001, 11:03 AM or a check valve? and what do they do?
CRAWLTOY 10-15-2001, 01:20 PM any one have any other pics of how they mounted their orbital???
JONYJEEPER 10-15-2001, 01:32 PM you shouldnt need any check valves or control valves.you will need to have a line made up that goes from the high preesure end of your pump to the orbital valve, then you will need a return(from the valve back to the pump)that is probably the line you want to put your cooler in..then you need two more hoses, one from the pump for left hand steering, one from the pump for right hand steering..i believe the orbital valve is marked on the backwith four letters: L will be for left,R will be for right,P will be for pressure,T will be for tank...
dirtrod 10-15-2001, 03:13 PM err.... the other 2 hoses go From the orbit valve R and L ports to the cylinder, not From the Pump...
I use a pressure gauge and a temp gauge also. I also have a flow control valve on the return side (for pre-loading the cylinder) and a pressure relief valve in the line from the pump to the orbit valve (for a safety bypass), but you can get away without them.

come awn someone has to have pics of their system mainly the orbital mount. Does anyone know where you can get the shaft to mount to the orbital every shop I talk to is lost
dirtrod 10-15-2001, 06:54 PM If you get a column that is made for the valve you are useing, you just need to hack off the steering wheel portion and weld any other column to it...I mounted my valve behind the dash, but you can mount it anywhere you want...
CRAWLTOY 10-15-2001, 07:49 PM cool thanx
