i put a 14 Bolf FF rear axle in my Blazer and am putting the 3/4 ton brakes in the front. will this increase my towing capabilities?

it will increase the longevity of the read end and may have better stopping power. But you still have the same motor and trany, plus if its a 2 door short wheel base then its still going to be squirly, even more so with more weight.

So my 100" WB Scout has 3/4 ton Suburban running gear and rear disc brakes -- can I tow what a 3/4 ton Suburban can?

Think about it -- brakes and the number of wheel studs are just one factor in tow rating.

Will it enable you to tow safer and more reliably with less worry about breakage from overloading?, Yes. Will it raise the rating in the eyes of the law? No.

I did a similar conversion in my old '86 Suburban 1/2 ton (8-lug 10-bolt front, 14-bolt rear, 4.10 gears w/ ls diff from a '79 GMC pick-up). I also replaced the rear springs with new 1-ton rated chevy leaves, shocks, and used 265x75x16 tires with an E load range.

It towed 5500-6000 lbs. much better than when it was a stock 1/2 ton, but was still limited by the 350 gasser and the 700r4 trans.

How much are you planning to tow?

I've seen a tacoma with a 4 cylinder pulling a 24' fifth wheel. Was it safe? Was it right? Was it legal? Do you care?

Without changing springs, you have the same problem with lack of control of the body and load. Wiht a short wheelbase it will still be all over the road with a big load. What do you consider big? I pulled 14K lbs of trailer with an early bronco one time and it did the job, but I didn't stop too fast and I stayed at 50 mph for the whole 70 mile round trip. Did I like it, no, but it did the job.
