My friend told me he could get a built 44 HP front from a early bronco that has a drivers side drop and a width of 60 inches...
True or false? I thought the early broncos came with a LP44.

Depends on what you define as "built"
There was never a FACTORY high pinion in the 66-77 Bronco.
Doesnt mean that one couldn't be "BUILT" by narrowing up a fullsize high pinion housing.

They all came with LP, no factory HP. However, its been common through the years to chop a fullwidth HP axle down to 60" and run it in EB's.

Yup I have chopped up one already, and kept a 77 HP44 from a F150 to do the same again.

I know people chop them, he was under the impression that it was a stock width HP unit from a early bronco. Thanks for the info.

keep them full and like said just go bigger you know you are going to some time or later, better sooner then later. This is my new plan since I checked it out, I will gain a lot from full width. AS WILL YOU!!!(from full widths) KEEP IF WIDE!!
