I am lifting my '94 reg cab s-10 about 15" above stock (with a 3" body lift included). It will be done next week with f-150 axles. I already had about 10" (7 susp. 3 BL) after the SAS it will be 5" taller. I have made custom cutouts to fit a 36 at max. 35s were on it before. I do want to run a 39.5 on the road and a 35 or 36 offroad.

Should I ditch the bodylift for stability?
Should I leave it on for the 39.5s?
I Want the height but I want it to be stable on the rocks as well. Can I get a few opinions?
Will I gain much by getting rid of the BL?

BTW, the outside of the driver side tire to the outside of the passenger side will be about 24" wider than when it was stock.

ditch the body lift and break out the sawzall.

Rull of thumb...With all things remaining equal (suspension design/geometry)...Is a 1:2 ratio: Lift to width...In other words your 15" taller and (idealy) you should be 30" wider to maintain your stock CG.

(Note: Gross generalizations here...But a good place to start)

I am gonna go ahead and say that 15" above stock is ridiculous for rocks unless your runnin big axles and 44" tires. You just dont need to be this high to clear tires. 15" above stock is show truck range. I say break out the sawzall (cutoff wheel is my favorite) and place that axle forward a good bit.

Even if it was a stock S-10 4x4 with 28” tires?

It IS my everyday driver for the time being… Sorry for not having your money.

Sounds like the best idea! I would have to move my front axle forward about 4" and hack off half of the front though.

I don't need to run 39.5s on the road... I could just stick with 35s.

I just don't want to ditch the body lift if it won't get me any more stability (large amount of stability). Like I said I like the height, but I know it may hurt my performance. I would like to compete in small competitions one day, but I don't ever expect to beat the big boys with this truck. I just want to use my everyday driver for practice until I can afford to build a buggy.

You must have some extra if you are willing to ruin a good set of tires on the street, plus a set for the trails. I'm

Admit you're a mall cruiser, lift it the 15" run 39's and spend the 35's money on the chrome light bar you want soo bad.

Well maybe I do have a little extra cash, but that is for the 4 link, King Coils, and Detroits front and rear. It is being finished this week.

Yeah, I bought the Detroits for doing (posi) burnouts at the mall. Dumbass.

So are you gonna give me a real opinion, or is your ass gonna keep on doing the talking. http://www.plauder-smilies.de/evillaugh3.gif
