FoMoCo used propane in cars and trucks in the 80s (maybe earlier/later, not important). What is important is this: did FoMoCo do anything internally to these engines, or did they just bolt on a propane mixer setup and run it? Did they make a factory "propane" head for these v8s? I know they sold propaned 302s and 460s, so it would be interesting to find out if there are factory part numbers for heavy duty heads set up for running LPG.
I am building a 351W for propane, and am weighing the options of building up my DO0E heads, or buying something else (GT-40Ps or maybe a "factory LPG" head")
Anyone? Anyone have a FoMoCo fleet dealer?
This would be interesting to know, so any input here would be useful.

Not that I know anything, but since you said in your post that there is a "factory LPG head" Then I would figure there is diffentaly changes to the motor. We are talking FORD right. They fawk with everything. Now that doesnt mean you need to make major changes to get it right.
Lots of good web sites about LPG conversions.. Try the search funtion. I would zap ya some links but I don't have them here at work.

I have seen a lot of sites doing the "mechanics" of the conversions, and I have all that worked out, just need to get a good set of heads. They take the worse beating in an LPG setup, and with no unburned hydrocarbons there to soften the blow (evaporative cooling, etc), the valves get toasty pretty easy.
what it would take would be a Ford Part Number for a small block head for propane (the dudes here are numb).
oh, and you could always PM me those links at home :D
Thanx

of course calling a dealer that allegedly carries alternative fuel vehicles for ford was fawkin useless.
Called Ford Fleet
they had to "get back to me"
BAH.......
no one fawkin knows anything anymore. Bunch a tards
BAH
and to clarify: no, I am not talking about POR folk, I am talking about the numb a$$ mental giants in charge of damn near anything out there. I know MY job, and I do not consider it too much to ASK for someone else to know their job. They don't care. Apathy is a sign of a weak mind. They just want to get out of work and smoke pot and watch TV. Again, bunch of tards.
BAH thrice.

Here is what I have for links. I haven't re-checked them, I just pasted them in, so I hope it doesn't duplicate your searches.
I would think if you wanted really top notch info on motor issues that the best place would be to look for the web sites that the cities and other municipalities are posting showing how "green" they are. And contact the vehicle maintenance shop's in those areas and talk to the mechanics. JMO.
