when I did it all I did is pull out the stock YJ shaft's, removed the vacume disco arm from inside the axle housing, then slapped in the TJ shaft. Never changed any seals and mine didn't leak.

Is it an aftermarket seal.I thought they went in at the outer edge of the axle by the knuckle.

the original yj shafts are much bigger then the tj shafts .... but the same at the splines..I dont see how yours could not leak what kind of rig??

well, since i see you already saw Stu's site....I'll save you some trouble.

You can press this seal in at the disco:

Spicer 46470
Warn 60006

and if you want, you can remove the carrier from the differential and press this seal in at the carrier bearing (into the passenger tube):

Chicago Rawhide CR11343
Quadratec Part No: 52420.12

both of those part #'s are good and you can order them on www.quadratec.com

I also found that the WARN part No. is the best for the outer seal.

I left the axle bearing in at the disco for support and I pressed in the outer disco seal using a length of rebar through the drivers side tube and a 38mm socket on the seal. I tapped the rebar with a hammer and drove the seal into place in the disco tube (warn seal # 60006).

if you choose to block off the inner seal at the carrier you should knock out the outer disco bearing because it won't get any more oil.

I am also running the thick Alloy USA outer tube seals in case i develop a leak....I've heard of a lot of guys with leaks from this mod. I know some who run BOTH inner and outer seals.

I left the axle bearing in at the disco for support... If your axle is straight, that center bearing does nothing other than give you better leverage to not bugger up the carrier end seal when you push in the axle shaft.

The only spot on a TV shaft with a machined seal surface is at the carrier, just like the YJ and TJ left side. Putting a seal at any other point along the shaft may work, but the seal will wear out faster on the non-slick surface.
