Im looking for a limited slip differential for the front end of a Ford ranger. I cant seem to find anyone that makes one! Plenty for "regular" dana 35s but the ranger front diff is shorter between the carrier bearings (i think). Does anyone know if there is a LS available for this?

My next question is about the Aussie locker. I have that in my rear diff now and its great. my question is how would that run in the front end? my truck is a daily driver and I dont want to chew up my tires. I have 2008 Ranger so the hubs are electronic and its a live axle. Would it drive OK on dry pavement in 2WD?

Thanks for the help!

Your hubs arent electric, but they are live axle meaning the CV shaft splines directly into the outer wheelbearing. You can run a locker up front as in 2wd there wont be any power going through it so it "should" unlock.

didnt Ford quit using the 35 TTB in 97? and you have an 08?

They kept using the 35 as an A-arm IFS.

Don't know if it's the same or different than any other D35.

ya no ttb, but the center cunk is still a dana 35, and i would advise against the luck box locker, as it is a cad axle ( central axle dissconect ) like a chebby or some jeeps / dodge - not that it wouldnt work ok, just having small cvs and aluminum housing, i think thinks would snap - or ware qiuckly in 4x

So you dont think the axle is strong enough for a locker... what about a limited slip diff? I just dont like th open differential, not good enough!

His axle doesnt have a cad system. 2000.5+ rangers have live axle system no vaccum lines, just a straight up splined CV into the wheelbearing. There are lots of guys who run front lockers in the ranger 35 front end with out any problems, as long as you keep the tire size reasonable you will be fine.

+1

With no power going to the driveline (2WD), the locker doesn't lock up, it should be fine. The most you'll notice is a faint ratcheting sound coming from the diff when you turn (normal with most lunchbox type units).
32-33" tires are about max on the IFS axle before you start having frequent problems with blowing the CV joints.

Have you guys heard anything about the Torsen LS for this axle? That would be perfect for me (i already have an Aussie int he rear end), but nobody makes them right now and Ive only heard rumors on other forums about a possible Torsen product...
