: Wentworth springs to Ellis Creek
cajack 07-29-2002, 07:41 AM Give me you thoughts. I think theres some pretty good trial that gets missed by starting the Rubicon at Loon Lake. I try to do the Wentworth Springs route a couple times each year just for the fun of it. How would you rate that section of trial?
i agree. wentworth is a one of the best parts of the rubicon. funny part is most people seem to ingonre it. i do enjoy not seeing many people on it when we go that way.
robert stone 07-29-2002, 09:40 AM best part of the trail i always go in wentworth it's nice to not see any one and a verry fun part of the trail

Got's to agree with camo. I've gone both ways and going in
via Wentworth Springs is more fun. Great piece of trail.

NE-RokToy 07-29-2002, 12:13 PM going in wentworth and out loon is a fun day trip if your not camping on the con but in the imediate area. I've never seen any one else on wentworth besides park rangers. But then again I havent been out there for a couple years :(

Went in Wednesday night late (got to the Springs about 3am). Stayed until early Saturday morning. Camped on the flat slabs near the waterfalls - where the 110v home stereo was set up. :D

JoshC 07-30-2002, 07:13 PM I cam out via Wentworth a couple of weeks ago and had never seen it. Looks like some great family camping down by the springs too. Not as tough, but definately beautiful!
The Jerk 07-30-2002, 07:16 PM i have wheeled this area one time and it was cool cuz it was different, definatly has its spots to watch the lil guys struggle though. jiMMy
Esteban86K5 08-09-2002, 10:18 PM So how long does it actually take to go from the Wenthworth trailhead to the Loon Lake intersection? A few of us are planning on going up there in mid September and I would just lke to know. Thanks
Big Rich 08-09-2002, 10:58 PM Tuesday after memorial, in my stock, open, 31", 53' Willy's, going up it took about 1.5 hours. I stayed right, which consisted of the harder routes (in my ride), was fun as hell, and will do it again if time permits.
Gate keeper and pit are shorter.

Esteban86K5 08-09-2002, 11:09 PM And can the rest of the trail from The Loon Lake intersection to the end can be done it about 2 days right? We just want to make sure to have plan enough time to do the entire trial.
Also once you get to the end at Lake Tahoe, what is the easiest way to get back to the Hilltop hotel without going through the con again? We plan on leaving tow vehicles there and want to kow how to get back. Thanks again.
Big Rich 08-09-2002, 11:12 PM Yeah 2 days is good. If traffic is light it can be run in one day, but not as much fun, 3 day trips are best MHO weekdays even better

Yup two days, but the trail comes out East of where your planning on parking your tow rigs. And it's not a short drive back to the trailers. You may want to consider heading as far as the Springs or Buck then back out.
