: shortest 2wd. tranny that'll bolt to a 4.3

ok, it's for my zuki, i want to keep the stock t-case, and not too keen on moving it any, so i need a tranny that'll bolt up to the 4.3L, and the shortest one i can get...... what tranny do i need??? i know someone that just put a 4.3 with turbo 35o(auto) in his and moved the case alot....... but i don't want to move it, i can move the engine foward if i have to and i'll extend the front clip a bit if i must, and i'll put my rad in the back if i have to.......
but the shortest tranny is my question...... std. or auto, dosn't matter, and what is the 1st. gear ratio of it?

come on people, i want to know by tomorow so i can go out to my buddys scrap yard and look for trannys.........

whats the shortest tranny
whats the length
whats it found in
auto or std.
and whats the first gear ratio

I have a friend with a zuki and he is talking about doing the same thing on his motor swap. Is there enough room for the 4.3 with out a lot of hacking going on? I had planed on the 420 because it is the shortest tranny of the 4 speed that I know of.

Not only the shortest but a 7.05:1 first gear! ;) That would be my choice.

Too funny Mike - you have a shed full of Sam t-cases you have nothing better to do with than use as fusible links?

Shortest Auto would probably be TH350. For a 5 speed you'll have to spend money.

in fact,i got a 4.3 in my zuki,,,what do ya want to know,,,,,,,? its a pain in the ass. i have a th350 and a 208(yuck) right now. i broke the stock case in half. im going with the th350,and a yota case out of a 80 yota truck.any questions,,just ask,,,,,and i think the 200metric is the shortest auto tranny.(i think)

Sounds like you need a fuse too.. Putting that toy T-case in place of the 208..
