I'm getting p/s and RedNeck Hydro Assist and want to replace the stock steeringwheel with a grant. TheLakeRat is doing it so that we can keep the stock steering column and I'm sure that Grant doesn't have a kit for a 1969 FJ-40. Which kit is the nearest to my '69 steering column?
Used search and couldn't find what I wanted and I don't get post by searching:flipoff2:
Thanks

I tried all the grant kits on my new grant steering wheel with zero luck.
I ended up taking my old steering wheel, cutting the hub out of the center (My wheel was toast anyway) and taking it and the steering wheel to my dads machine shop.
I enlarged the center hole for the steering wheel to the same size as the hub center, and then drilled/tapped 3 holes in the hub and bolted the steering wheel on. Basically saving myself the $30 for the adapter and making my own. :D

Grant has a kit for the Landcruiser, I've used them a ton of times. Infact just a couple months ago Dustin bought one for his 72 cruiser. Go to Pep Boys or some other place like that, they'll have it.

the 69 proved to me atleast to not exsist. I went thru the 2 availible for the cruiser (Listed as 75 to 80 something and 80 something and up) I also tried the truck adapter, and the Celica adapter...but all were the wrong one. :D

Thats what I've heard GloNDark...do you have any pics of what you did? I might get the steering wheel and take it to him and let him build an adapter for it. He said get one as close as possable to fitting but he would end up having to machine that one to fit some might as well start from scratch and save some $$$ on 20 kits trying to see what fits...
Thanks

The 75- up uses the same size steering column as a 69 I think. All I know is that I've bought a bunch of them over the past 10 years or so, and Dustin just bought one for his about 3 months ago.
Also, I put the adapter that was on my 72 onto my 74 (which had the new style steering column with key in column, and it fit just fine.

Thx...I went to a O'Riely's (sp) this weekend when I was in the big city(dallas/fortworth) and picked up the steering wheel. They didn't have any kits for toyotas but they had a pretty good deal on the steering wheel. I think there is a pepboys in san angelo so I might check that out next week, or we'll have to find a way to make a bracket...
Thanks
