i believe 5.38 is the lowest gears you can get for a high pinion front axle.
7.17 is the lowest aftermarket gears you can purchase for a dana 60 rear.
i run 5.13's with 44's and an old 4 speed and its more than enough.
your gear ratio choices also depends on what and where you plan on using the vehicle for. i.e. if you need to drive on the highway, or maybe its just a trailered truck and you need all the gearing you can get.

You can run thick cut gears in the front on the factory carrier, any ratio up to 5.38. I dont know for sure if they make thick cut gears for the rear 60. So if you go any lower than 4.10 then i think you need to buy a new carrier for the rear. I might be wrong and you might be able to get thick cut rears but i have not seen a set as of yet.

I have 5.38s in mine, thats the lowest you can go. Like they said, you'll need thick gears for the front.
I'm not sure...i havent thought about it in a while, but i think they make thick gears for the rear, basically the same as all other d60s.

yeah, i shoulda mentioned, this rig is gonna be offroad only...im gonna gear up the 60's and break the bank with some lincoln lockers..:smokin:.....
i guess it would be the gears that will break the bank....:p

I think i paid somewhere around 200 for each set of gears. That was for yukon gears though, not sure what they want for "better" gears or cheaper ones.
