My buddy just got a 2008 1500 Silverado :shaking:
He often tows a load and needs some airbags.
Recommendations?
I would like to get him a self leveling kit, but I don't even know where to start.

Towing usually makes the rear sag. From the factory most trucks come high in the rear. The reason I say this is because you mentioned leveling kits, these usually lift the front to match the rear at unloaded weight. How much is he towing? I used to have a Procomp add a leaf in my rear pack. It gave me the height I wanted without stiffening up the ride too much. Air Lift makes a good product as well. I have air lift bags in my toy springs and they are really tough. I don't have them hooked to a comressor but rather one schrader valve at the bumper.

I just picked up a set of Air Lift 5000for my Ford. They apparently are made by firestone and have a lifetime warranty..
Installed in about 2 hrs. Tomorrow I'll see what happens when I put the camper on them :D

Ride Rite is another airbag option.
Thought about a weight distribution hitch? When I had a 1/2t it made a world of difference.

Cool, I ran the Air Lifts in my 80 series coils...they worked great to level it out.
Let me know Mace how it works.

Put the new cabover in the Crew cab 1 ton with 45 psi in the bags. Just barely sitting on the stock overload springs.. It sucked..
Aired up to 75 lbs. And I was just on the stock springs and the bags (stock overload springs not being used.) rode SIGNFICANTLY nicer.
I am also going to add a set of Rancho 9000's (turned up to the max when the cabover is on) and get a heavier sway bar I think .
I am fully impressed at the difference they made..
It was kinda creepy before. This camper is big...

I just put this kit on my dad 03 1/2ton and was not impressed.

I have this kit on my 03 3/4ton and could not be happier with it. It just seems like a nicer kit. Install was much easier. I also like having 1 fill valve opposed to the firestone kit that uses 2 fill valves.

Firestones on my Expedition, plumbed into one schrader valve at the back bumper. The compressor setup is nice, but I only tow once in a blue moon, so airing up just for the trailer is no big deal.

IMHO there is only one way to go....

I have them on my trucks and they work amazing towing 20,000 lb tongue & gooseneck trailers and allow for maximum travel while not towing in the dirt...
