you could ask in the for sale section.
He is asking input..not advertising it for sale. It's borderline chitchat:).

I thought it would be borderline, but i am not ready for any transactions. I am looking to set my budget. When I decide to sell I will go there.
Thanks
My opinion...
The engine isnt worth much. Sorry.
Anyone with a vehicle that has a 258 in it that needs a new engine would do better to put a 4.0 in. They're more readily available and can be had in good condition for under $500.
On the other hand, I paid $1200 for a very complete used MPI kit bought here in the ForSale section back in 2004 or so. It was complete down to new hoseclamps, CARB sticker, and instructions, etc. I just needed to buy a few feet of fuel injection hose. Its probably worth more now, the price on them has gone up since.

I have a few on my short list:
5.7 Hemi - still researching the throttle and not sure if all years have the electric throttle any info is helpful
LS1 - is a definate possibilty. I have a NV 4500 with a Mopar bellhousing so that has a little influence but i am very open.
I am hoping that the 5.7 is more available at the local junk yards.
Thanks in advance for any info

Anything that bolts an LS1 or chevy genIII (vortec) to a jeep is readily available and with more aftermarket suport.
Here is one Im working on for a scrambler alredy bolted to the dana 300. Not to mention all the smog legal crossover parts.

I am now definately looking for a LS1. From what i have been reading, I should be looking for a 2001 - 2003 out of a camero or firebird. Is this correct? I will be starting to scrounge every socal junk yard soon.
Thanks

LS1 in a camaro was only produced till 2002 if you want an LS1 from a GTO you will pay a preminum for that. Are you looking to comply with smog? You have to make sure you get all the components (Evap, tank perss sensor, exahust etc) I have done a few LS1 conversions but for 1/2 the price I settled for the 6.0 truck engines with the bigger 80e transmissions and better torque curve of the getgo.

I am not looking to meet smog. I currently have the option of passing (knowing the right folks) and or registering in another state. I am now guessing my range of years is 2001 - 2002? I really appreciate the info. I have a NV4500 and 8.8 and 44 in the jeep, so we should be ready to go!!
