yeah, i've had some experience with it...

http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=506285&highlight=

bought the Sky Manufacturing kit after that, switched from working on a K1500 frame to go under my C1500 shortbox to my C2500 longbox standard cab, and the frame isnt big enough for the Sky hanger. i ended up going with the ORU 2wd kit for a C1500 (my C2500 is a 7200 GVW truck, basically a C1500 with 6 lug rotors and a 14SF)

I saw 7 trucks I could say without a doubt lacked a front shaft and only two I could say for sure had one. Why not go with a company with a proven offroad track record?

Considering the Sky kit is almost half the price, I would have to go with Sky if I were to do another SAS.

IIRC the truck on Sky's page doesnt have a front shaft in it, but those pics were put up the day i was there or the day after. when i was there, the welds on the truck were still warm.

Really can't judge quality of the kit based on the present of a front shaft. The pics on the Off road direct site looked like a decent set of brackets but seemed a bit high. And then your experience with them would also lead me to shy away from them also.

have you guys seen the truck on the Off road direct website. I dont think he knows much about proper driveshaft angles :shaking: I would just build your own. All the front x member is, is two spring mounts with tubing tying it together. it will cost you a lot less too.

I kind of expected to see more flatbillers in the pictures on their website....:shaking:

I agree, when I built my buggy I wanted to keep it leaf sprung, I ordered the shackles from Sky to mate a full size axle to a toyota frame, after everything was squared I used a piece of 2.5X2.5 X,25 square tubing and used that as my front cross member, then installed the springs on the shackles, squared everythign up again, when it looked good, I took some 3/8" pad eyes with 9/16" holes in them and positioned them on the square tubing. Welded everything up. Other than the price of the conversion ahckles to full width, I have about 20.00 in material and 4 hours of time. http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk72/anatram/P5040002.jpg

it's a shitty picture but I hope you get the idea.

I used ORD On my truck and Will the owner has very good customer service and great products for a reasonable price if ur lazy to fab your own. I did a build thread on full size Chevy just search offroaddirect. I'll post a few more pics that my drive shaft from a 73-87 Chevy I ground the casting so it wouldn't bind

I wheel the crap out of my truck haven't broken a thing. I have bent the front crossmember on a huge rock, but that was my fault. It depends on who builds it if there gonna go the extra step and finish the swap or just bolt a axle to leafs and call it done.

Not sure why you brought this thread back to life...... IMO Will from off road direct is shady. He was all over it when you want to order up a kit, but when I called to figure out why the hardware that I got with his kit was incorrect he didnt call me back. There is way better kits out there that you can buy for about the same amount of money as his. off road design is what kit I would get if I had it to do ever.

I replied to show the kit has improved will has fixed things and that there is a truck using his kit that has a front D Shaft and is able to be Beatin on just as hard as any kit.

His new cross-members and shock hoops have been re-designed and thicker metal. Huh dono about the phone calls and hardware that sucks. Least bolts are not to much. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/monkeyboyblu690/540315_3897277788280_1169177618_3724213_1684369333 _n.jpg

I just put their kit on my 02 Dmax. It's a simple, tough, straight forward kit. All I did was add a support between the two front spring hangers. Overall, I like the kit...especially the newer kits that are beefed up and have the correct front spring location.

I didn't like the way the hoops mounted to the factory brackets either, so I fabbed my own also. I just finished the build, so I don't have any long term update yet....I"ll let you know after I work it a bit.

Thanks for the props!
I too went 32" spring pad width(79HP60).
I spent money on drive shafts from High Angle Drive Line.
The front uses 1410 at the pinion and 1350 double cv at The tcase.
