: transfer case
the Bach 08-08-2008, 01:11 AM i have an 89 E.B. Bronco. i plan on building it for extreme mudding. i need an insane amount of lift. i also need to know what kind of transfer case i can use to drop down the outputs as low as possible to cut down on drive shaft angles. i am currently in iraq and will be able to afford it. i will be doing alot of custom fab work on it. mainly with a good 4-link setup. i will be running rockwell axles too. also coilover all around as it is easy to get lift with them. i just need a good low sitting transfer case. also, any info on where to buy some good floatation tires like a smaller version of monster truck tires would be greatly appreciated. i live for big trucks, and this will happen. i'm just new to this crazy lift stuff. i can fab fairly well which will help me out. i have a creative mind and the willpower and money to accomplish what i come up with. i just want some opinions. anywho. hope to get some feedback soon.

mikepotts 08-08-2008, 03:03 AM just a word of caution...........this is sounding like a thread which has the possibility to get flamed...HARD! be prepared for some jerks to appear, and say hurtful things.
to the would-be flamers, before you do, just remember this man is serving our country abroad, risking his life everyday so we can have things some take for granted (freedoms of speech, life liberty an the persuit of happiness), so i would suggest taking it easy on him. i have 2 close friends who are preparing to deploy, one to iraq the other to afganistan. this is a fine opportunity for the known flamers to show that they are not heartless jerks.
as an answer to your question, i have never built a mud truck but, it would seem you might be able to get some of the answers you are looking for at www.offroadchat.com it is a B.B. for usa6x6 and alot of the guys there are into mudding. this site doesnt have alot of traffic, so some replys might be slow coming, be patient.
mikepotts 08-08-2008, 03:23 AM almost forgot...DUDE! KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN, KEEP YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME, AND GET HOME! i dont want to read about you being a statistic!

They're more into the whole double digit lift thing. Pirates gonna eat you alive.
What kind of bronco do you have? EB stands for early bronco, which and 89 is not.
FF3PM 08-08-2008, 05:37 AM Before buying anything from usa6x6. Read this thread about how poor they treated their customers.

I have a 90 EB ..and 7 EBs from '66 to '76. To the full-size crowd an EB is the Eddie Bauer Edition.:grinpimp:
Running Rockwells allows you to get away with running a 'normal' HD transfer case like the stout NP-205 with a heck of a lot of lift. However the really extreme trucks run divorced and clocked t-cases and even HD chain drives to a dropped transfer box. Depends on how much lift you are going for...
the Bach 08-08-2008, 10:53 AM yes i have heard about usa6x6. i actually know a few of the guys over there. i am stationed out of Ft. Sill, OK. i'd smack myself if i didn't know about them. lol. and i have heard lots of rumors about this site being assh*les to people. since when did the joy of driving our trucks and wanting to learn more about them become just another way of trashing people for their lack of knowledge? these forums are here for people that need help with a problem they may have. not to put people down and drive them away. where i used to go off-roading in northern Wisconsin, if you broke something and someone had the part you needed. within reason and price it could have been worked out over a case of beer. not even knowing the guy! bottom line is this. if your gonna trash talk someone on this site for not knowing something. maybe your the one that should leave!
i know what i want to do with my bronco (full size Eddie Bauer) and i will go above and beyond my abilities to get it done. any help i can get will just make it that much easier.
with all that being said......thank you for your support it means a lot.
bring on the trash talk. lets see how many ignorant sh*t bags are on this forum. grow up and take what you learned in the past and help others out with it.

YOu just signed your death warrant. I was even thinking about relpying..til you posted that jem.
USA6X6 has done NOTHING but screw our member out of thousands of dollars. For that we aren't greatful.
Pirate is the most "hardcore" forum for wheeling on the web. Its not for newbs or the light hearted. So I say to you, go to pavementsucks.com and post there. They take more kindly to "your kind".
My one nice post of the thread.

loveshackle 08-08-2008, 12:21 PM 1) Thank you for your service. Godspeed and following winds. Return home safe and serve with dignity and honor.
2) I think of PBB as the Marine Corps of the offroad world. A group of hardcore guys (& a few gals) that can dish it out, take it, and back it all up. And then there are a bunch of sack hanging tagalongs that couldn't ford a stream of piss in a Defender 110.
3) Go gargle bleach, tacks, and thermite.
4) If you're still here and you ain't sore, shut your suck and read, read, read. You'll find a lot of great info in the threads here that you can apply, from parts selection and sourcing to sound design and fab lessons. Become a sponge and don't worry about your 'build thread' until you're building.
5) That is all. Carry on.

Ahh, I didnt think of that.
brewchief 08-08-2008, 03:24 PM If you want to build a BIG mud truck take a look at tawlboys build here on pirate, he really didn't get flamed much because he did his research and put together a nice truck on 54 boggers and rocks. Most of the time when someone shows a mud build it's full of bootyfab crap, for the most part people on here will appreciate a well built truck whatever its purpose(unless it's a big ghey show truck).

Seriously though, refine your posts and don't ask dumb questions. This site is mainly devoted to rock crawlers, although as Brewchief stated, if you have a well-built truck (read: not a big gay show truck) guys will be pretty cool to you on this site.
You need to stop posting and read for a while. Oh yeah stay safe and STFU. :flipoff2:

good luck with that one. Wyotech = Dumping 30 grand into a school that isnt going to make you any better with tools. :shaking: People think they can go there, knowing nothing, and come out a master tech. :shaking:
good luck with your "degree". it wont get too far in the real world. seen it at least 10 times around here.

Wait. You want to turn mini-monster truck tires on Rockwells and a massive ammount of lift...in deep, sticky, HP-sucking mud...with a 351W?
I must be retarted building a 466 for 38's and 4" of lift....

i have a great deal of respect for the people serving our country! that being said...this comment is the kind which inspires the flames! i think i had pretty much set the stage for you before you said this. since youve rattled the cages, whatever comes, comes...
mikepotts 08-09-2008, 05:07 AM as for usa6x6...a friend bought his bracketry for his rockwells from them and it looked nice so, when i was ready for mine i called them 3x's with no answer, and after sending 3 emails with no reply, i went to ballistic! which i am grateful for. that was my first and last experience with usa6x6, BUT...their forum has many people from the swamps of Fla. who have built truck like you are wanting...come to think of it...this may help also...
